Bit awkward that
I liked Poch but I never thought the sun shone out of his arse!

As good as he can be...
Do we really want a player that we are at the mercy of - dependant on the urgings of his agent?
We know hes good - but turning it off and on like he does makes him a liability.
Too many games of him being an on field spectator makes us like we've had an early sending off.
As I said, it all depends on how he and Jose work things out. If he were to sign a new contract, that, in my opinion, would show total commitment to the club and that would affect his performance in a positive way. If you have a player of his abilities and they're willing to give it their all, you don't throw them away. You cultivate them as the team will be stronger for it.

I think that might be somewhat of an exaggeration - did you see Phil Jones at the weekend?
Then off the top of my head there's Mustafi, Zouma, Ashley Young, Aaron Cresswell, John Stones, Rob Holding, Bellerin, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac, Rojo, Alonso, Luke Shaw, Bong, Dunk etc etc. I don't think they would even rank in the worst 20 defenders - possibly even the worst 50.
Forgive my hyperbole. I get carried away occasionally. I did see Phil Jones. I loved seeing Mousset just shoving off the ball.

Anyone mention the Olympiacos fans in the home sections again last night ? In our block the first two rows to the right were majority Olympiakos fans. All celebrated the goals openly and the Stewards did fuck all again.

After Red Star they have learned nothing so it would seem
I had a few near me but I think they work at a Greek restaurant in Green Lane.

Much as I hate to open old wounds, how does he get in with binoculars and a metal stick, when my cheese sandwich is binned? And don't say it's a walking stick - he dances around like a spring lamb for 2 hours.

Any use for a smilie?
The look on the boys face kinda says it all!

Spurs looked extremely ropey for most of the first half, Olympiacos were looking much the better team for the opening spell until the gifted goal right on HT.
Good result in the end but another game that showed quite clearly where the problems are for Mourinho to sort out.
The back four are as poor as the front players are good, the complete lack of cohesion at the back is a major problem.

Yep agree although I'm still totally in the dark as to the specific motivation issues. Is it our experienced players Rose, Toby and Jan (Eriksen) who were causing the issues. Reading between the lines it would appear that it probably wasn't Kane or Dele and almost certainly not Lloris given his public comments on being wedded to Poch.

ASSUMING it was these three (4), is there anything wrong to say we should be not renewing these players contracts given their age (and Rose's braking the ranks TWICE) and desire of Eriksen to move? Or do we now look to them as great options for us to build from here on out?

I haven't got a fucking clue about this lot, other than we still have a central midfield that is not functioning as an elite midfield.

Apart from a few individual issues, Rose etc, I think there was a general demotivation of the group as a whole, which in part is understandable from a group that's been listening to the same message for 5 years - and that message has become somewhat confused and diluted the last 18 months as well.

Hearing the same message thing is 100% what I can get on board with, especially when it is as high intensity as we have all been told (training and analysis).

I am more sceptical on actual player decent (excluding Rose) but will be interested to see in the fullness of time.

It does beg the question whether Jose is the answer though, yes he's a new voice = Tick. But everything we know about him is that he is just as in your face, just as demanding (maybe not in the form of training intensity) and if he doesn't like you you are fucked.

What would Poch have done if 2-0 down. Whilst he would have picked a different side, it is interesting to consider what he would have done. No way would he have brought a sub on but he probably would have changed the formation. Possibly moving Winks further forward to play the role Eriksen was asked to do and similar to his recent England appearance. we will never know if it would have worked but Jose's change did and maybe Eriksen will be more useful to the team in the time he has left at the club.
