I thoroughly enjoyed it. Properly competitive game against a roughly equal team.

We were just as chippy I'd say.

I enjoyed it too.... Maybe "chippy" wasn't the right word, but there were several "Easy lad, it's only a friendly" challenges from Sevilla in the first half and I feared the worst..... By the time their lad got bloodied; I think we'd just resigned ourselves to giving tit for tat and went just as hard.

Is this true, i.e. that they are a roughly equal team? Not disagreeing, mind, but I would have thought we would be better than them.
We both finished 4th in a major league. We both have our sights firmly set on third and are dreaming of higher. We would both be delighted with some silverware next season. We both consider our neighbours vermin.

Yep, roughly equal.

A little worried how 5 subs is going to impact play styles and flow of the game. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of pressing this year and a lot of tactical fouls and yellow cards.

When they break the press, who cares… take a yellow and then get subbed out at half time.

I absolutely hate tactical fouls, especially dangerous ones, and hope this isn’t the case.
Last season the quality of play throughout the league was high and the game was entertaining. So, naturally, the powers that be wanted to "improve" it. Five subs will widen the gap between the haves and the have nots, make for more one-sided games, and ultimately with more teams playing behind will create more sloppy play and injuries.

With the WC in the middle this season will be weird and we need 5 subs.
But not sure about next season. A lot of good points being made by the anti 5 brigade.

I guess good run out for the players fitness. However would like to see progression with style of play rather than being allowed to be pressed back and playing so deep. Noticed it in the first game and today virtually all our back 5 are on the 6 yard line Lea ing so much space at the edge of the box. No one is then picking up players allowing free shots. Lloris passing out from the back in the first half was heart attack time as they pressed our players. One more thing I was never a fan of richalison and defo not for £60M. He certainly doesn’t look like a £60M player. Yes he may run around but we need someone whose gonna make a difference. Kulu adds so much more quality. I hope we haven’t wasted £60M on him considering Chavs got Stirling for £47M and his goal scoring and assist are far better than ricalison. It’s still early doors so give him time but his got to be able to influence games both in scoring and assisting.

And yet we outscored everyone without this mythical creative player under Conte.
Our front 3 are all very creative. They don't stand in the 6 yard box waiting for thr mythical creative player to get the ball to them. One, even two of them drop into midfielf and, shockingly enough, create for their fellow team mates. It's not a coincide that Kane and Son provide for eachother more than any pairing in premier league history.

Lastly, it's OUR. Not "are"
They are different words. Spelt differently, pronounced differently with completely different meanings. They are never interchangeable.
Jeje, you are being a fun guy. Firstable i did that post from my phone, and i don't put much into it in terms of errors when writing on the phone. On top of that last time i check we are not in school anymore, and on top of that i'm not native.

As far as the topic we were on it. Yeah only a blindman with zero football knowledge can't see that we are in a big need of a creative midfielder.
And let me remind you that we lost 3 matches in a row, in 2 of which, we have from very few to none situation to score.
Against Chelsea in all 3 matches, we barely did something in the front.
On top of that against Burnley were we lost 1-0 the same. Zero situation, we couldn't get the ball out of our field for god sake. Same story against Brighton were we lost 1-0, then a draw with Brentford.

Yeah we managed to get into top 4, not without the help of Woolwich who blew a huge lead they had on US, and United was absolutely s*****.

Still it was crystal clear for anyone with any football knowledge that our midfielers were terrible in holding the ball, and terrible to make the connection with the forwards, and terrible with creating opportunity.

And your suggestion with all due respect just show you got zero knowledge.
You are suggesting that we need to sacrifice our Main Striker to go back and do our midfielder work, and losing a key player in the front. Such a great suggestion.
On top of that outside of Kane, Kulu and Son, our other players were totally incompetent to score goals. Our midfielders are dreadful in this. Terrible on long shots as well.
Again, against tight teams with good defense and that knows how to play defensively we absolutely were terrible, and was clear we are lacking creative midfielder. Add to that, that we also lack that magician player that could lure players in 1vs1 situation constantly and open our game, when nothing it's working, and decide the game on his own.
We absolutely need that Hazard type of player. Raphinha would have been great, or similar to his skill player.

So yeah, just because i support this team, doesn't mean i'm going to be biased and with pinky glasses.

And next time try to be less aggressive, because you will get the same treatment in return .....

Weird post.

There’s so much wrong with it I’m not even going to bother dissecting.

Couldn’t agree more yet we probably are in the minority. You could add the Burnley home game where we just about won. I’ve been saying we need a player to provide some magic whether up top or in midfield. Yet we have bought richarlison for £60M who has his qualities but defo doesn’t provide that magic. Is he the type to break down Brighton at home when even Kane couldn’t?

Let me summarise:
I’m saying let push forward as a team rather sit so deep.
We need to press forward, don’t give me the heat issue sane fit both teams plus Seville I think are a week behind.
Richarlison is he really a £60M quality player if sterling goes for £47M even with English player premium.

Mate, you are reading FAR too much into a second pre season friendly.

But I know you like to moan so I’ll leave you to it.

I wish you a nice evening

I thought the battle today willl stand us in good stead.

Definite team bonding going on out there today!
on the feed i watched they said Seville's seasons starts a week before ours, so maybe they are a week ahead in training
agree they looked stronger then us, and I felt they worked better as a team

felt in both games our CM's sitting to deep when we are defending the box, I feel they need to be closer to the penalty box line (than the penalty) so theycan block cut backs
also the WB's defend on the penalty side line, when the ball is played to "Winger" (who is standing on the byline) our WB then runs out to the winger, why not be halfway between winger and penalty box side line as the starting point when defending the box ?
