I would also say quoting stats you’ve looked up on line doesn’t mean you know anything about football. Yes Eriksen is a silkier player than Sissoko I’m not denying that. I also don’t hate Eriksen, far from it, I think when he’s on song he’s wonderful, but when he isn’t he may as well not even be on the pitch.

Im saying that your complete and utter lack of understanding (or ignorance) of the role players like Sissoko play in a game of football is worrying to say the least

See this is just silly bollocks. Because even when Eriksen isn't on Song he's still doing more of the basic stuff than Sissoko is. This is the fucking point. It's not just about looking up stats, I keep giving you descriptive stuff too, the stats just back it up.

I love the role of the busy cunt, I am the champion of the busy cunt - just ask those that have known me a while ( RESPECT THE COCK RESPECT THE COCK , todd1882 todd1882 , Cravenspurs Cravenspurs ) there is nothing I love more than a good footballing busy cunt. It is possibly my favourite species. This is why our current situation pisses me off so much.

Sissoko does nothing exceptionally well. He doesn't offer himself for defenders in trouble, he doesn't have passing vision or a 360 degree game brain, he lacks game intelligence and intuition, he panics when pressured on the ball, and he doesn't press well, he doesn't tackle much, he doesn't intercept much, he creates absolutely nothing. He's not even average defensively, compared to midfielders throughout this league. And offensively he's embarrassing. And lets bare in mind, he's spent most of his career as an AM.

I'm the one giving you all the anecdotal, descriptive and statistical evidence to back up my opinion, all you've done is say "you're wrong", you haven't countered anything Ive said. So just being able to type "You're wrong" or "You don't understand" somehow makes your argument stronger than mine? pfffttt...

This is just Michael Dawson syndrome all over again. I was told by everyone who kept voting for him as their Player of the season that I was mad for saying he's actually not very good. Same Dier a couple of years ago. "but but but he plays for England....." I had people telling me he was our fucking Busquets, I shit you not. If you look back you'll find Sammy telling me how great Dier is as a midfielder at the start of this season. That should set alarm bells ringing for anyone.

People seem to love a beefcake who grimaces.

Hairy’s Post Match Thoughts

1. A bit sloppy but we overcame in the end. Goals weren’t exactly art work.

2. Son has best foot skill on the squad, not even close.

3. Still having finishing issues. Build up was not quite as good as the Liverpool match.

4. I’ve been pro a Tripps for a while, but my support is waning quickly. What has happened to his crossing?

5. Not sure why there’s so much complaining here about losing Dembele. Sissoko has filled that role nicely. Strong, excellent defending, decent passser, and about zero chance of scoring.

6. Eriksen was better but I’m still losing faith in him. Drilling directs in to the legs of a wall is unacceptable IMO.

7. Love it when Verts gets in the attack, wish we could see a lot more of this.

8. Sissoko/Winks is a formidable DM pair. Harry is so vital to our success.

Agreed Winks is definitely one of our most important players, probably 2nd behind Kane.

As my mate pointed out last night... the only thing more ridiculous than a load of 'Croydon Boys' from Penge trying to persuade the World they're Italian/German Ultras..... is the sight of a load of Hertfordshire lads from St Albans trying to come across all European flag waving fanatics!

And yet Palace & Watford have somehow cornered the market on Suburban Hardcore support!

Weird!

The acoustics stuff is just bollocks mate, I recall when Wembley was being built they were making a thing of it then, even did a documentary on the windows in each box were at slightly different angles in order to bounce the noise back a certain way. This is evidenced even more when you see/hear that the loudest grounds in the world all have no roofs on them, not one stadium in Argentina has a roof, yet week in week out the atmosphere is truly amazing.

There are stadiums that do work against the atmosphere, namely those where fans a miles away from the pitch, usually with a running track but even here take a look/listen to the Napoli fans at the San Polo stadium debunk that myth, same with Roma fans at The The Stadio Olimpico.

All the ingredients are in place however for a truly great atmosphere, with the South Stand and having fans close to the pitch in steep sides. I think having a place to drink before a game is also important as people can socialise once again, whereas in the last decade or so Pubs around WHL was so packed I don't think many bothered and just rocked up at the Stadium 10 mins before KO and left to go home on or just before KO. I think this new stadium has gone away from the recent route of taking away from the fan (as in the new stadium builds), there is nothing that I can see that will affect the atmosphere in a negative sense.

In any event, the atmosphere's in England are not like they are in Argentina (or where they are famed) nothing will change this. There will be periods in the game where there will be no singing, this has nothing to do with acoustics, where people sit, how much beer they have drunk, whether they are standing or sat.........It has everything to do with a typical English match day crowd.

You may be right Guido, I don't know much about it - except there's a geezer just been on Radio4 talking about how his company has spent millions designing our stadium specifically for the acoustics (I wasn't really listening, it will be on the bbc iplayer somewhere)...

do you stand up when you drive your car?
I've been sitting here in the local thinking about this question (I must get a life) for ten minutes and still don't understand it. Do I stand when driving my car? Er no - coz that would be extremely difficult as well as stupid. Do I stand when I go to watch football? Yes - coz it's not the the local Odeon.

You really are an oxygen thief aint ya! I got annoyed as you slagging off fans going to the game while your sat on your fat ass at home not bothering to go to the game so what right do you have to criticise those that do? If you was that bothered about the atmosphere maybe you should have gone along and helped create one? And I don’t get this “I’m to ill to go to a game” bollox. Any way I really have no need to engage in any dialect with mugs like you, people like you are a cancer to this forum.

Plenty of us tried without joy. Think u might be being a bit pressumptuous here mate.

I think our energy was good last night (but then, it was always going to be wasn't it) and it was refreshing to see us press better collectively than we have been lately, and higher up, but tactically that was still a bit of a dogs dinner wasn't it?

We seemed to be playing a completely lopsided structure, heavily loaded on our left/ their right - bizarrely as this is possibly their stronger side? - in a kind of 4222:

Trippier------TA----------JV-------BD

Sissoko---------Alli

-----------------------Eriksen------------Rose
Kane----------Son
I just don't understand why we needed Rose and Davies. Why not just play an orthodox 4231 and have Moura, Son and Eriksen behind Kane. I'm not Moura's biggest fan, but he'd just had a decent game at Anfield, scored a goal, his confidence would have been high, let Moura do the job Rose was trying to do, let Rose provide an traditional FB overlap. Instead of having two FB's going the same direction, whilst also leaving one of our sides totally exposed?

We won. Get over yourself or take it up with Poch.

Mate I don't have a problem with sitting down as I said before but not in the park lane. There are three other stands for people that want to sit and sing. The park lane is the stand for generating atmosphere and that means standing and singing your heart out. If idiots have put them self in there and want to complain about people standing they should transfer to the Paxton asap.
1000%

100%
There should be standing areas for people who want that.
But it's a bit harsh slagging someone off for wanting to sit in the seat he paid for
I don't understand why people think that they can't sing or support whilst seated, I can do it without a problem.
I was in row 66 - everyone in front was standing. not the whole width, it seemed high road side of the stand was

You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to mine, it’s a forum, we don’t have to agree with each other.

In my book Sissoko has been our best player this season by a long way. You feel different, it’s fine

For the record I didn’t rate Dawson in the slightest, but again some did, it’s just how it is

I’m too drunk to argue right now, you win

A very important win which stabilizes us for the CL game coming up! COYS
PS-Love the noise the stadium generated !

Anfield having a great atmosphere is the biggest myth in football.
I went to Anfield in the 2000's and after the initial YNWA bit the Kop were shite and we outsung them the whole game.
I'd driven up there coz the trains were being mended and was busting for a waz on arrival. I parked up and went into the first hotel I saw to ask to use a loo; on making my way across the foyer I was stopped dead in my tracks by the entire Spurs team filing down the stairs and out through the lobby right in front of me!!
After I recovered I realised I was now standing in a large puddle of urine!

I made that last bit up.
