For what it's worth, I get my info on these players from what I read online. Genuinely I look for two things
1) How often they are name dropped in match reports, especially if they note that they played excellently
2) Fan opinion. Fans who rate their player highly and are either gutted to see them leave. When we signed Berbatov a Leverkusen fan came on the Glory-Glory forum and just said "you've signed a super star". He wqas right. Seeing how upset other fans are to see a player leave is quite telling.

RE: Sissoko - he's not a replacement for Dembele. Personally I think Lamela is a great option to replace him in the middle. Also, James Maddison coming in would be a great option in the centre mid.
Genuinely , You've mussed the minimum 6minute long YouTube compilation for your scouting to be comprehensive

We need a left back, not a left wing, and I like the idea of Maddison, but think we need either a CM more than an AM, or push Eriksen deeper, then Maddison makes sense.

Well Sessengon can play there, we have Walker-Peters who IMO is first team ready too. Add to that Aurier can play on the left as well. That will give us several options for the left after Davies, especially if you include Vertonghen over there as well.

Sessegnon isn’t going to play LB. If Poch were to mention the word left in the same sentence as the word back, he might as well pack the boy’s bag for the train to Liverpool himself. He’s a WF now, period.

Ive bought into the hype on sess

But IF Danny don't go ..... it's a tight squeeze

So he's gotta shift dele or eriksen or whoever is occupying the forward left slot assuming me play 4231
Or rotate with Davies (and Rose if remaining) if we go 3 at the back

I think he's a talent but it's not obvious to me where he would fit at the expense of who

He’s a very useful signing in my mind. Dele and Eriksen have both spent time on the right. With the situation being uncertain with Son regarding national service signing a young LW with a nose for goal now and getting him acclimated would be smart. Son/Sess - Eriksen/Maddison - Moura/Lamela with Dele the cherry on top free to play anywhere, and maybe giving Lamela/Eriksen a chance to see if one of them could make a spot deeper as a Dembele replacement.

The thing is that at the level we want to compete it’s always better to have too much talent and not enough minutes than the other way around. Injuries happen all the time. Look at City, United, Chavs - the three winning all the trophies the past 2 decades...they don’t worry about who fits in where, they sign talent and figure it out later. They also ruin some careers along the way, but perhaps that’s just collateral damage.

It looks alright in theory but we are already struggling to get moura game time as it is

Assuming all fit. That's a lot of heels kicking
I don't agree having to too much talent is not a problem .... unhappy players is not good
Plus isn't poch a fan of a tight knit lean numbered squad.
For that reason

I agree philosophically, of course. But it’s hard to look at the results and argue the past 2 decades. The clubs that simply stockpile talent have won everything in the top leagues. Leicester in an off year is the outlier - and it should have been us. Would we have won that title if we had more depth? Probably.

I’m not saying we have to change the model. I love what spurs are, especially now in this period. But it’s a difficult question to face - can we get over the hump when our 3 chief rivals in this period have ridiculously talented depth?

Would we still be in the CL if Toby had remained healthy? What if Dembele was healthy and at his best for the full season? What do we do if Kane’s next injury isn’t fortunately preceding an international break and we’re without him in a crucial period. Just seems we’re on the knife’s edge with razor thin margins while our rivals can soak up injuries and motor forward.

Yeah I guess that's why we pay the magic man to work it all out ! :pochsmirk:

KWP and Aurier would be right backs out of position. Sessegnon has already been moved forward to left wing and isn't going back. Left back requires a specialist.

Sissoko still has a future with us here no matter what many of our fanbase thinks of him. He provides squad depth for us and fills in when we need more bodies in midfield. I'd rather play him in the early Carabao and FA cup games than risk having Dembele go in. He also seems like a nice guy to be around whenever I have seen him interact with the team.

Mostly agree with you: Sissoko has been a valuable player for us this season. But he is on £95,000 a week, which is higher than he should be earning as a squad player for us. If he is willing to take a pay cut, I am happy to have him here. Otherwise, it makes sense to sell him and bring in a younger player with more potential and smaller wages.

Bale is a very selfish player so is Kane.

You can't have more than 1 selfish star player in the team, it fucks the team spirit.

That is quite a brave observation. I tend to agree however.

Bale is not coming to us unless he takes a pay cut but for me the only thing he would add now is goals but at what cost. He is no Sane that is for sure.

Bale's star shone but is now dimming and I think his focus could well be the Euro's in 2020.

On Kane I think that as outstanding as his goal record is, he would be the complete striker if he were a bit less selfish. But at this stage and with his record I concede it is nitpicking.
