For what it's worth, I get my info on these players from what I read online. Genuinely I look for two things
1) How often they are name dropped in match reports, especially if they note that they played excellently
2) Fan opinion. Fans who rate their player highly and are either gutted to see them leave. When we signed Berbatov a Leverkusen fan came on the Glory-Glory forum and just said "you've signed a super star". He wqas right. Seeing how upset other fans are to see a player leave is quite telling.

RE: Sissoko - he's not a replacement for Dembele. Personally I think Lamela is a great option to replace him in the middle. Also, James Maddison coming in would be a great option in the centre mid.
James Maddison is not a CM

We will probably need a new Centre Back, Left Back, Centre Forward, Right Winger and Central Midfielder this summer... just to break par! Harry Winks could well be the Central Midfielder and Lucas Moura the Right Winger? There's a shout for Kyle Walker-Peters to get some decent minutes next season.

Really don't want to loose Toby but sometimes life punches you in the face!

IIRC, DeLigt is a higher rated prospect than Sanchez was so the 50M price isn't far off. Certainly wouldn't be against that.

Just been thinking about the summer. This is the best summer I can think of.

OUT
Toby Alderweireld
- Big money move to PSG would be best option to free up funds to bring in our new recruits.
Danny Rose - Again, send him to PSG. They do need a left back and hopefully the Alderweireld deal will go well enough that they fancy taking Rose as well. I won't be sorry to see him go after last summer.
Kevin Georges N'Koudou - Just hasn't worked out for you pal. I am sure there is another club that will giove him a chance and I hope he takes it. Good player, just not good enough to get in this Spurs team.
Vincent Jansen - I suspect most people have completely forgotten about him. Hopefully he'll get a move back to the Netherlands. If so it'll have to be on the cheap, but I think the club could take the hit given the profits we'll get from the sales of Alderweireld and Rose.
Moussa Sissoko - Even if you don't hate Sissoko, surely you don't see the benefit of having him in the squad when everyone is fully fit (would he even make the bench). He's on a hefty wage too (£80k p/w) so moving him on would be very beneficial to reducing the wage bill.

IN
Ryan Sessegnon
- Last year he made the Championship team of the year at the age of 16. This year he's probably going to be the player of the year. When we first signed Dele Alli and he was finishing off the season at MK Dons, I kept an eye on their results and match reports, and Dele was clearly their stand out player. He was obviously a class above everyone else in the league and it is evidently a superb piece of business from Spurs. Could Sessegnon have a similar impact? Who knows, but another young, exciting, flashy English player would do us no harm at all. Should be our number 1 target this summer.
Matthijs de Ligt - I only first heard about him ahead of the Netherlands/England game. I looked him up then and everything I have seen and read since then has been glowing. I suspected he'd get picked up by Barca, Real, Bayern or Juve this summer, but since the Spurs links came out today I started to dream about this one. He'll be expensive, but any defender will be this summer (£45m for Alfie Mawson?). With the Dutch failing to qualify for the World Cup, Spurs could land this one in time for pre-season training. A very exciting possibility.
James Maddison - Like Sessegnon, he's a standout star in the Championship. He's another player I have been monitoring for the last few months and just like Sessegnon, di Ligt and Dele, the reviews on him are absolutely raving. He's a real talent. Yes, he would be expensive for a player unproven in the prem, but may yet be a reasonable price in the current market at £25m.

New contracts for Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Vertonghen, Dier & Hugo would also be welcome.

Let me know what you guys think.

I only see us getting de Ligt if we switch back to 3 at the back, since either Sanchez or de Ligt would be too ‘expensive’ to sit on the bench.

Given how good our attacking options are, I’m not sure if we would ever go back to the old system.

(de Ligt looks like a real good player though!)

I'd agree with most if this apart from I think we'll end up getting our money back on Jansen and why sell Sissoko if he's happy and continues to contribute.

Sure, Vertonghen is great and all right now, but in a year or 2 he might be up for replacement. Getting someone like de Ligt in way before that would give Levy the opportunity to cash in on Vertonghen before he becomes too old. I don't think a deal like this would be 'expensive' at all if you're looking at the long term.

Why do we have to 'cash in'? Surely it would be nice to let Verts finish his career here and start to fill coaching roles with him and players of his ilk who have been nothing but great servants to the club? Can't see any downside to that. Ok no 'cashing in' but think of the message it sends to the players coming after - loyalty gets you looked after.

I think showing you give no flying f*ck about loyalty will be véry expensive in the long term :pochserious:

+ the idea of letting our starting XI back pair be 18 & 21 years old with only 1 season of premier league experience between them, is far too risky. You should always have an experienced leader in your defense.

Ive disagreed cos I don't like any talk of verts being sold

Wed get no value for how good he actually is anyway

Just wrong

Jan is at the age where only a really stupid club would make a big bid for him. I think the odds are high he will retire at Spurs, and I will be very happy to see that happen

Had a dream last night that we announced the new kit by announcing Bale wearing it on the pitch of our new stadium and now I don’t want to dream again.

Levy has said that he wants at least one major signing in the summer to mark our move into the new ground. So I guess the question is what the difference is between what the fans and what the club sees as "major"?

Like the club could well see a player like Fekir, Depay or Ben Yedder as a major signing. A fairly big name operating in a big league and in Europe but would that be enough to appease the masses or would they demand someone on a "superstar" level for it to be classed as a major signing?

Just a stupid piece of food for thought I got stuck in my brain before bed. Where is the line drawn for a major signing?

Is this actually true, or is this chinese whispers from some random ITK?

Not meaning to have a go, just genuinely curious. Levy says so little that I'd be surprised for him to come out with that.
