    That is rather worrying.

I wonder if it was his lack of end product? Missing out against Ajax is understandable but to then not be put back into the team after his team lost 7-1 without him is pretty telling.

Very promising. It's his first full season at senior, top tier level. He needs to be given time to understand he ain't up against 15 year old kids anymore and needs time to understand how to develop that final bit of end product. I'm encouraged by this, it's all just a learning curve for him + a little bit of humbling might do him the world of good

Not even in the squad today, injured or underperforming or? Last 2 matches he was on the bench.

Maybe the novelty of playing first team football abroad has worn off. Hopefully not.

Happy Birthday to the lad. I'm sure someone will be quick to criticise his choice of hat.

I wonder how he has found the Dutch custom of Zwarte Piet, must appear pretty fucked up to a young lad from north London.

Real example of being exposed to different cultures and customs.

Remember thinking what the fuck is going on the first time I went over there in December and saw loads of people dressed up like this.

It is messed up and blatantly racist, but the majority of Dutch people despise it to be fair, and Edwards doesn't really strike me as someone who'd give much of a shit about something like this either.

If 'Black Peter' offends people, think how upset the Smurfs must've been every time they watched Blue Peter!

Talking of little Belgian folk people...

There's some context needed for this whole Black Peter discussion

It's not a blackface thing, the peters are black because they went through the chimney

Yes, but what colour where they before they went up the chimney?

Dutch area that I went to / know people from around Eindhoven it is pretty normal. Whole groups of people going out to parties etc. But they are known as the "Boeren" (farmers) by other football fans which I think equates to being called country bumpkins.

Just definitely not something you would be seeing over here anyway.

Not in the squad again. Was thinking of trying to find a stream to watch, but won't bother now.

Any news on whether he's injured or something?

I imagine he may return in January.

Looking at that line up, I'm not sure what it is that I've posted. It doesn't bear any resemblance at all to the last game's squad.

    EDIT

    Ha, women's team maybe?

At least he is on the bench this time. They are playing PSV away, so are probably in for a proper beating.

Actual team news in 15 minutes I would imagine. Let's hope fears are allayed. Apologies for any confusion!
