Poch throwing the medical team under the bus?

BBC Sport website said:
"It is not important, the game, the semi-final of the Champions League, the score, the priority is the player.
"I don't know if we need to change the rules, if we need another doctor."

Poch throwing the medical team under the bus?
Nope. In his press conf he confs AGAIN that we followed the protocol. The protocol is a series of questions, and Jan answered all of them. In addition to this, he also mentions that Jan was self-conscious enough to want to move away from the touch-line to change his shorts. What he's saying isn't unreasonable and that he is asking if the protocol is appropriate? Or maybe suggests there's another doctor available.

It's all here, he couldn't be any clearer on the process, procedure and who has the responsibility to make the call.

I posted this just before they took Jan off and before he looked like he was going to fucking die right there.

Get Foyth on that’s just dangerous....he’s fucked

I felt physically sick when his legs went.

If I can see it from tv, how the fuck can anyone in their right mind, on the scene, think he could continue?
Sorry, it was a really, really stupid call.

Saying that, the media don’t give a fuck about Jan, it’s just another stick to beat Spurs with.

You say this as though his legs went before he re-entered the pitch, which wasn't the case. As soon as he showed signs of there being a greater issue, he was taken off.

Turns out that letting him back on was the wrong call, but they assessed him for 5 minutes before doing so. They didn't just pull him up off the ground, pat him on the back and tell him to man up and get on with the game. That he then took a turn for the worst was horrible to see, but nobody knew that would happen. They acted very quickly after that.

Not really that why I said I posted it before his legs went.

His eyes were empty. I posted it before anything happened.

But all the test have shown him (so far) not to have suffered a concussion. As others have suggested maybe his legs went because he lost a bit of blood from the gash on his nose???

Not impossible, but not occam's razor either.

I am concerned both for Jan personally and his long term health, but also the possibility that he's put out there in Amsterdam as a shadow of himself, and possibly needing to come off at some point.

So the doctors (many) and now a Neurosurgeon (a specialist who only focuses on Elite sports competitors who we are awaiting his findings), our Manager who has publicly stated his sole interests are with his player's wellbeing and then I assume insurance companies who insure our most expensive assets and who perhaps also have an interest in a player being fielded that could suffer as a consequence and then Levy who wouldn't like to pay out a claim would be wrong?

Just the premise that Poch would play him whilst he's not able to play well isn't something I'd even entertain, if it was we would see Lamela, Winks, Aurier, Kane all with their boots on playing, their absence is all the evidence you need.

Head injuries are mercurial and something that's not well understood, even with all of the knowledge we have. I trust the club will act with Jan's best interests at heart, but it's not so simple as that unfortunately.

I didn’t say he had concussion.

You don’t have to be concussed to not be able to play football at the highest level.
Sometimes just having your face smashed open is enough..

That's pretty much what Poch has said in his presser, I posted it further up. He's not making the decision on his fitness, the doctors and specialists are. Whatever they recommend he will abide by, just as he did on the night it happened.

Yeah, that’s why I think it was a stupid decision to try.
Because even I could see that he couldn’t before his legs went.
It was desperation and if we were 2-0 up they wouldn’t have dreamed of keeping him on.
There's a white doctors coat hanging up at Hotspur Way, lots of people should form an orderly queue and apply for a job, current specialists haven't got a clue. Electricians, Plumbers, Builders, Barber, Fishmongers, Shop Keepers and Armchair surgeons only need to apply.

It seems like you are trying to separate the 30 seconds before Jan went off from when he actually sat down.

It wasn’t ten minutes....he instantly sat down, and my post proves that I saw it before any of the throwing up and near fainting.

You might think he looked fine and healthy with half a nose, a green face and the look of a WW1 soldier in his eyes. But I don’t.
The doctors made a mistake.

He wasn’t fine. That’s why he came off.

It would be the same as if someone who was paryletic 'decided' they were fine to drive home...
They're neither in the physical, nor mental condition to make that call!
Anything Jan said about feeling ok at the time should have been disregarded.
But that's s part of concussion tests and protocols work. I've had a couple of concussion tests and they ask stupid, nondescripts question

I couldn't see him from where I was, so I'm not making any claims about what state he was in. But people (most) are claiming he was concussed when all tests done to date show that he wasn't (this may well change having visited the neurosurgeon today) but the people claiming he was concussed none appear to hold a single medical qualification between them., but they know best.
