Friendo - you know less about football than some of the Yanks on here. Tragic shit. As in Shockorama.

To be a good WUM you need to be somewhat knowledgable.

It's going to be fun watching you squirm all season when Ade and co keeps you in bitter and twisted mode.

Who did I back? Ade, eriksen, Lamela, Kane, 2 holding players etc.

Everything is coming up Gibbsy you odious, enflamed anal fissure.

Unless Naughton, Lennon, Rose, Townsend etc are leaving me red faced? Want to explain what aspect of my opinion is shocking?

At season start £17mill - a lot of hype and expectation in 2013-14. By the start of 2014-15 there is less hype but remaining expectation.
I sincerely hope Poch can lift his performances and so will Daniel because we would struggle to get £10mill at the moment.

Even though he's not starting, if any of the front 4 are injured, he is such a good option. He's not a pretty Spurs type player, but not all goals are beautiful. He's an athlete and his pace is not blistering but it's determined and constant.

When it comes to scrambles and chaos in the box, he's got fantastic instincts. If we can strip the terribleTownsend, Rose, Naughton and Lennon style "link up play" he will flourish.

We have so much depth, and with a 4231 it's all set up for him. I just hope Poch drops the soft spurs derp that strangled the club. Zero prem assists from Townsend is diabolical and our wingers ruined more that one promising goalscoring careers at the club.

You're a cunt. Not a knee jerk, "I said that before the season started." You got owned in the Townsend thread. Fuck off, your credibility is zero, wanker. Get tae fuck, cunt.

You're making a fool out of yourself. Looks like my unhinged claim was way off the mark eh?
Pathetic, so many agrees unlike this:

Right ....so you complain that we have too many "AM's" but rather than play one of them in the actual no. 10 position you want to put our best no. 9 in there instead?!

And put one of our centre halves in defensive midfield instead of one of the three specialists that we already have......

And Paulinho is not a no.10 in any sense of the word. Box to box midfielder.

Dont know your arse from your elbow fella.

I filled the "Like / Thanks" quotient.

Lovely, thank you.

At the end of the day I think ole Gibbsy could do with familiarizing himself with the concept of Opportunity Cost.

Who knows, maybe Paulinho could make a decent no. 10, and perhaps Chiriches could put in a shift for us as a holding midfielder. But is Paulinho honestly an upgrade on Eriksen or Lamela as a no. 10? Or, for that matter, is Chiriches playing as a midfielder an upgrade on any of our midfielders?

Probably most definitely not, for both of those questions, so what's the point in obsessing over it? Fitness and injury concerns aside, why should we bench our best player in a particular position in order to accommodate a player that didn't impress in his native position?

I must point out that the concept I found interesting was the self, pre-repped post, a bit like internet bridge - your hand being the strength of the point you are making - against its weaknesses, no doubt robustly made ridiculous by your correspondents.

Gibbs, in this case, has simply cobbled together a starting eleven of his favourite players, and where players don't fit, he has pushed, squeezed and levered to make them do so, with no thought given whatsoever to their individual talents. Ade as a no.10 is just more desperation. Why is he so keen to play players out of position?

What I find so frustrating is that some of his examples I could see working out at a push, but you stick them all together and it's just nonsense. Ade plays in such a free role tracking back and pulling out to the wing that honestly I can see part of his point, and that Ade could conceivably work as a no. 10. He's not the best finisher, so when he goes missing in the box I'm almost screaming sometimes for someone with a bit more positional discipline to latch onto those errant through balls, etc.

But then, opportunity cost, etc.

His big thing is against "tiny dancers", in favor of a battering ram approach of some big bruising center-mids, but I view that philosophy as being as much of a failure of the AVB regime as the philosophy which he opposes. How often did we see Paulinho - Sandro - Dembele under AVB, and can you think of a single instance in which they looked halfway decent? The answer to the first question is "whenever the three were available" and the answer to the second is "absolutely not."

I don't even know what this means.

The wrong thread, but fuck it. I have never liked the idea of a senior defender moving up the midfield. (I know - Bale) Most CBs who are good on the ball probably could do a fine job at CDM, but the ones who move there are, huge generalization, not as good as the other CMs. i.e. David Luiz. Yes, he can play very well at CDM. But, if you are going to pay 50m for a CDM/CB then you can do much better. I have never been convinced by his 'elite' defending at CB and have never thought of him as a top CDM that warrants that type of money (no CDM, imo, warrants that money). Same thing stands for Chiriches. I'm sure he can play CDM very well, but I prefer Sandro/Capoue.

I don't think much of his ideas, but he's entitled to them. He seems to want giants all over the pitch with Eriksen and Lamela thrown in as a sop to the purists. But by playing Ade as a 10, he pushes our two most creative players out wide, with no thought as to where the creativity is going to come from, and we're back to AVB crab football. Anyway, my problem is his retrospective arguing style, his refusal to answer straight questions, his scuttling off when proven wrong and his desperate, almost childlike desire to be seen to be right. I even feel bad about raising his profile with this post.

I don't agree Ade is a no.10.
