Yeah there was less of his usual chicken w/ head cut off franticness. Maybe Pochettino just needs to slip him some downers before each game so he can be back down at a normal human intensity levels by the time he steps on the pitch.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Hotlby is again facing the prospect in playing under a new manager after Hamburg boss Mirko Slomka was sacked last night. The German international is currently on loan with the Bundesliga side after being frozen out at Tottenham.

Hamburger Moegenpost reported today that Slomka has dismissed by the German club after a poor start to the season. Slomka was a hero last season when he saved Hamburg from dropping into the second tier of German football. He only took the job in February when the club were fighting relegation and he helped Hamburg avoid relegation via the playoffs.

Hamburg brought in new signings during the summer including Holtby but this hasn’t stopped the rot with Slomka’s side going eight games without a victory. Hamburg’s defeat at the weekend was the final straw for the club’s hierarchy and the manager was dismissed after the game. This will come as bad news to the Tottenham star who is now looking at playing under his 7th manager since he joined the North London club in January 2013.

Has he been played as a dlp for them?

Zinnbauer was officially announced as manager of the Bundesliga side this week and he's already started to make changes to the team. Bundesliga.de have claimed the new coach will no longer use Holtby in central midfield and instead will use him in a more offensive position, starting with the game against champions Bayern Munich at the weekend. He will be used in a three man offensive line with former Newcastle United target Pierre-Michel Lasogga as a lone centre forward.

That's good for Holtby IMO. Using him deep is inviting cricket scores.

A more offensive position - back to how he played for Schalke, in his best days. I'd love to see him succeed, but Hamburg are a shambles from top to bottom at the moment so I can't see him flourishing in such an unstable environment.

Seems Holtby has signed permanently for HSV.

http://www.mopo.de/hsv/medienberich...rpflichtet-lewis-holtby,5067038,28699144.html

As a new hope he has come from Tottenham to Hamburg - and will now remain permanently: The HSV has the option for Lewis Holtby already pulled after the fifth matchday. The reports the "Bild" newspaper. The 24-year-old will therefore change for 6.5 million of the same, receive a contract until 2018.

A clear signal: The HSV bosses rely on Holtby as midfield strategist - even if Rafael van der Vaart after his injury should return to the starting line and the center of the HSV again. Either may the two side by side ran - or Holtby moves to the double -Six. In the test against Buchholz the two were already together on the court.

HSV boss Beiersdorf had wanted Holtby like a firm commitment from the beginning. Yet the coffers were empty, there was only a lending transaction in question. Now the deal is in the bag, according to "Bild" is the transfer fee will be due in 2015.

So they couldn't afford him at the time, but now they have the funds he'll sign at the end of the season for €6.5m.
