Finally back from the game. Pre-match was great. Banter outside the ground was excellent entertainment, but I'm glad not to have been one of the police officers between us and them in Park Lane. Line-up was quite a deflater. The cups are so important for us as we're not in any way challenging for the title or even CL places; playing that back four was a bad call (Rose excepted). It wasn't fair on the players either, as the fans were getting a bit frustrated with the fact that our reserve defense is clearly not as good as our first choice. We should have put out a stronger team and we should be prioritising matches like this. Atmosphere was good but overall a hugely wasteful night and I really do question our approach for this. Early stages of Europa League against tinpot opposition is good for testing our B team; cup competitions against cuntfaces with a potential trophy that we should be trying to win is not.

It was a fuck up to change the complete back four & goalie. Particularly the goalie. A keeper (& the club captain at that) should not be changed just to keep his understudy happy. That's all it could have been.
Knocking that lot out of the cup would have meant a great deal to the fans & with our strongest team I genuinely think we would have done. Let's not beat about the bush here. It was a missed opportunity to kick them while they were down & send their fans into meltdown. It would have strengthened Poch's reputation, which was on the up after a couple of great results & good quality performances.
I'm pro Poch, but he got this one very wrong on every level. It's the NLD ffs. He "dared" with team selection. We didn't "do" what was necessary last night & the buck stops with the manager. They were there for the taking & we blew it. :vdvhmm:

Let's both stay. I can't live without Ol Gibbsy. So much imparting of knowledge.

So much. So ruddy, ruddy much.

May be the longest multi conversation the forum has ever seen.

You two in this match thread:

I want a really horrible nasty atmosphere on Wednesday, I want to feel the hate.

I want bloody noses all up and down the high street. I don't do midweek games any more but for this I'm making an exception.

Gooner angst is like a drug to me

Anyone else at work that can't concentrate on anything other than leaving asap tomorrow?
35yrs of this and still get goosebumps.

Buzzing already.
Work output minimal.
COYS.

I think our thin squad will have epic burnout if we play a lot of games in the domestic cups so i wouldn't be that bothered if we took an early bath from the league cup but if we go out to those fuckers i will be devastated.

Can't lose to these, don't mind playing kids the next couple of games in the LC but against Arse full strength.

Completely agree. I hope it's intense and scary for the scum. Doesn't even have to be violent...just make sure they know they're in enemy territory. Stare the cunts down, bit of verbals and an all round intimidating atmosphere please.

They will get a frosty welcome to say the very least..
They will be as predictable as ever... They will be in plain clothes until they are met by the Police for their escort, then the scarves will come out and the jackets will be undone to reveal their Woolwich shirts.. Then they will walk up the High Road being as brave as you like due to massive protection.. They will sing " we won the league at Shite Hart Lane " at least 8 times.
They will barge each other out of the way when in the queue to get in the ground, where they will then become brave again and sing " we won the league at Shite Hart Lane " another 8 times minimum.
At the end they will pop their heads around the exit gates just to make sure the Police have their escort in place, then they will leave and walk back down the High Road looking at the ground because they have just been spanked.
They will be thinking about how they can play it down as it's only the Carling Cup and what they are going to write on Twitter or how they can troll us..
They really are the most predictable and pathetic fans in the country..

A win for us will send that lot into a frenzy of "Wenger out" meltdown. That will be almost as satisfying as a win itself. Bollocks to all this rotation shit. Play the strongest XI every time possible. Change it when it has to be changed due to poor form, fatigue or injury. Then give someone else the opportunity to make the spot their own. Chadli is the only one who should be in danger of losing his starting place on Wednesday IMO because frankly he has been a bit of a passenger this season so far. A short spell on the bench should buck his ideas up & get him hungry again. Hope Eriksen is ready for 90 mins. When they are already making excuses, you know they are running scared.
Ar5ena1 will do very nicely

Love people knocking our defenders, especially the full backs. We've conceded 5 goals in 7 games FFS! This is Tottenham Hotspur we don't usually have a record like that.

Edit: 2 of those are penalties, one conceded by the player a lot seem to want to replace Walker. Strange.

I don't think any of our full backs are top drawer. Walker is particularly grating for me because he has absolutely no footballing braincells whatsoever, he ALWAYS makes a stupid mistake that leads to a chance or a goal, he scored an own goal in our only defeat so far, his crossing is bollocks and his decision making possibly the worst in the team-how many free kicks have you seen him (and Rose at times tbf!) give away in our own half by bundling players over, silly tackles, obstruction etc?
hes prob still a better option overall than Trippier who from what I've seen looks mediocre tho has 'good crossing stats'.
The four of them are completely interchangeable which is a bit depressing.
I think we have some of the better full backs in the league. Blaming Walker for United is just stupid, he played great game, it was Bentaleb who fucked up. Walker can't do anything right according to a lot of people on this forum, and I completely disagree. The main thing that frustrates me about Walker, is his lack of crossing. It was especially visible against Palace in the weekend...

Update on my obligatory office loud mouth gooner:

Asked him what sort of lineup he thought they would put out and i mentioned that both managers would be foolish to put out weakened sides because of the importance of the game and how both teams could kick on if they got the result.

HIM: "Well it's a big game for you, but we've got Champions League to think about"

ME: "I guess you wouldn't understand the importance of it, not being from North London and never going to any games"

HIM: "Well i went to the Emirates Cup once..................."
