I've never, ever seen a footballer give up chasing a player (Boufal, maybe?) as blatantly as he did against Southampton.

Sissoko against Aston Villa for a start for their opening goal on the opening day of the season.

Midfielders lose their men every single week. Sometimes blatantly too. It used to happen almost every week when Winks played DM last season, but he's improved that part of his game fair play to him.

Will he be here next season?

Of course, we can’t afford to chuck a £65m signing after a limp debut season, but certainly he’s a long way from being part of the starting XI and filling Dembele’s shoes.

He ran out of puff after 10 minutes of the FA Cup game against Southampton and that’s an illustration of where he is. Winks, Lo Celso and Dele are the three first choice midfielder right now and they are all far more robust physically than him. Ndombele moves at walking pace when we don’t have the ball, the only player in the world who can get away with that is Messi. When he is ready to run for 90 minutes, he will be ready to challenge for a starting berth.

To see Gedson coming on (and have a good impact) instead of him should light a fire under him. If he’s not that bothered then he isn’t going to make it at this level.

He is fit - just not being picked
He's fit, but not FIT. He needs to build up his endurance to match the pace of the league.

He's not the first player to struggle adapting so we can afford to be patient with him.

But if you want to start a 90 minute football game you better be able to keep up with the pace for more than 15.

He was being saved for midweek , no disrespect to villa but surely Jose sees midweek CL as a tougher fixture than Villa? Expecting to see Ndombele and GLC start Wednesday

Good question. Like Sanchez we overpaid for him. If we get a good offer he goes but...from who?

So true.
GLC was a bit injured but JM brought him on but let this tired young man stay on the bench.
