Tactics under Mourinho

Generally what I think will happen:

1) Favouring 4-3-3

2) A lot less Aurier

3) A lot more Dier

4) A lot more Lucas

I Guess we are going to be more defensive now...and Mourinho hates players that are prone to individual mistakes and those that doesn’t work hard enough defensively.

I believe Sissoko will get diminished game time now... together with Danny rose and Serge Aurier. I don’t see them being with us next year.

Son is really going to hate playing under Mourinho. While Son excels in the final third, honestly, he can’t defend at all for god sake. He doesn’t quite fit into Mourinho philosophy of a wide attacking player.

It will be quite interesting to see how we can adapt to Mourinho counter attacking style that sits deeply. All along, we play with a high defensive line that presses opponent into mistakes. Now..... we are doing the complete opposite. To say I am worried is an understatement....

Errr, maybe Son will love having Dele and Eriksen alongside him as AMs as opposed to behind him in central midfield.

Maybe Son will enjoy having the full backs playing forward passes, and the CBs defending corners.....maybe Son will enjoy not being the default sub off guy....and getting a game with Moura from time to time.....maybe Son will enjoy a trophy

Think likely to see a 4-3-3. Mourinho from memory tends to like an all round attacking number 10 as a false wide forward.

If you take Willian at Chelsea we have Lo Celso who can do the same, tackle and track back allowing us to ‘park the bus’ but also link and create. Lo Celso is ready made for José’s system IMO.

Dier will almost certainly be there to cover for the defensive frailties of Winks and Ndombele, although all will be expected to work like dogs.

Toby also looked to have fallen out with Poch or something, he hasn’t been right for a while. Him and Verts could quickly be back to old form especially if Dier successfully takes up DM again. Still think we need a top class DM.

Yes agreed. I think a top class DM is holding us back from playing a real 4-3-3 with Ndombele and Lo Celso sitting just above the DM.

We have a very unbalanced squad. Most players are best playing a central role. Son is the only proven wide player.

Jose's first act will be tightening up the D.

Just hope he builds around Kane, Son, Ndombele, Lo Celso, and Sanchez.

I think in Son and Kane Mou will have two perfect players for his system. A big but technical 9 who can hold the ball, bring others into play and finish ruthlessly, and a wide forward who will run his bollocks off and can also score regularly.

Let's play compact, keep it tight and use the dribbling of Ndombele and running power of Sissoko to break from deep while opponents are not set. Lucas can also find a bigger role in a system that asks him to run into spaces and not try and play intricate football. Enough of trying to play Dembele-ball without the man himself, it's foolishness and has never worked.

Huge myth about poch promoting youth tbh. Winks is the only one that has broke through. Mou gave rashford mctominay to mention 2 regular football. Frank has done it at chelsea because he had to. Every other club what manager just throws kids in

He’s a Demi God in Portugal. The opening news in every news station was him signing. Never saw Tottenham do the headlines in Portugal. Not even when qualified for the European final. He will be a HUGE draw to sign Portuguese players and top players in general

I can't see Moura getting too much time under Jose. His lack of defensive work is just not going to jive well.

Seems like an odd observation, Lucas actually presses very aggressively and continually for a winger/forward. If anything he has the most defensive input out of him, Kane and Son.

This is my thinking, Dele to be made an 'example' of and axed then sold next summer. Money to be spent on full backs, Aurier to be first choice at the beginning but Jose to hate him. Toby to sign on - Jan and Vertonghen out in Jan or contracts expire. Rose to be sold. Ndombele to become a bit part player. Been trying to find videos of him talking about us on Sky cause I think those would be interesting to watch now. As much as I wanted Poch to stay and think this is the wrong call, I am excited that now I have no clue what is going to happen. It's almost like getting dumped and then you come to the realisation that now you're single you can do whatever you want.
