First time I question Mourinho based on one thing. Why Lucas took a freekick...

That free kick was terrible. Lucas looks to me like anything but a free kick taker. On the other hand, when he took the free kick I wondered who else we could have put in charge for taking it. We would normally have Kane (injured) and Eriksen (almost gone) take them for us, but almost no one in today's team was a free kick specialist. Quite an odd situation.

Another game where our forward players piss away numerous chances, and pre-chances to create chances.

And here’s the really fucking worrying thing, it’s not even our biggest weakspot. We still haven’t got a 6 or a LB.

Please god don’t let me have to watch the Brazilian deluxe Lennon as a CF any more.
This is my takeaway - chance creation isn't the issue it's finishing and poor passing that kills transitions. It's why I'd rather have a DM than a striker, even though better hold up play up top would help alot.

I think most people agree on a few things.

We lack a focal point up front and are using wing forwards to do that job. However, the link up especially in the first half was slick and direct. We just lacked the finish which is worrying because they are chances that would be put away by those players. Are they lacking confidence or is the pressure too much now that Kane is injured.

Defensively looked comfortable up until 70 minutes. JM needed to react after they made the sub to bring Adams and Boufal on. There were players struggling to walk, Winks, GLC, Son and Lucas. I thought that was poor game management. The performance itself wasn't that bad.

The Dier sub needed to be made much earlier. I know he was waiting for 5 minutes but he should have been on for 10 minutes by that time. Took too long to react and paid the price.

Think it would have boosted our confidence no end to get back to back wins. One thing is that JM plays the same team pretty much all the time. Feel the extra game is unnecessary and better used to spend time on the training pitch and to recharge.

When in doubt, give it to Lord Tanganga!!

My take on it, filtered through a few beers with a Romanian Steaua/Liverpool (he lived there a few years, speaks English with a Scouse whine/Real Madrid dear friend of mine...

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, it was a belter of a cup tie. Two good teams who went for it, loads to like about both.

Yeah, the equaliser was frustrating but they fully deserved the replay. GLC again head and shoulders MotM, but I also really liked Winks (again) and Mad Serge. He may have slipped up for their goal but the rest of his game was fine. The best full back in history, Paolo Maldini, also slipped up from time to time, he did once in a European Cup Final, it happens.

My beard and Nigel Adkins's remain uncut.

And here's another thing, again, I'm repeating myself. It happens frequently at my age.

I flicked briefly through the in-game posts. As is often the case, the posters' experience was way different to mine, no one seems to actually enjoy games in which we don't channel 70s Brazil.

Gedson seemed to get a shit load of abuse. Maybe it's just me but he seemed fine to me. We were poor as as a team for 20 minutes, or else Southampton were really good, but we defended well. He played his part, did what he could, After that we played well, moved the ball creatively, had them on the back foot until half time. Again, Gedson was a key part in that.

First 10 minutes of the second half again we were on the back foot, Southampton playing really well. Our defence was fantastic though - hurrah! Gedson did nothing wrong here either.

He got subbed because, I presume (and did Clive Allen), we wanted a more experienced, slightly more attacking battler in Lamela. Great, he picked the team up, our energy level seemed to improve. It was the sort of tactical change you see in every game, regardless of the teams, even more so in the case of a young man who's been in London 10 days.

I really dont see why the in-game posters have to insist on their particular prejudices - Winks missed a pass - CUNT, Dele didn't see X in a better position - CUNT, Lo Celso was tackled - WEAK CUNT and so on. As if Lewandowski, Messi and Van Dijk don't fuck up too.

Hugo is cap'n. IIRC he had the ball a couple of times-he should have put it in touch.

Why did he sub off Dele then?
And it shows what he thinks of Ndombele he does not trust him to replace one of the three.

Unless he’s not 100% but you could be right

And don’t forget Saints are a decent n form side at home with a cunt of a referee officiating
