Apparently Lamela did not partake in full training yesterday. another possible injury?

We seem to be building up an injury list - Austin (GK), Foyth (CB) Wanyama (DM), Oakley-Boothe (Mif), Sterling (Striker) were listed as injured for the Roma game, add Lamela in and that's about 20% of the squad injured after one game !.

Is that the Barca ‘Z’ team or summit?! :dembele:

Practically the whole eleven went to the World Cup, so not surprised.

Semedo, Roberto, Lenglet and Denis are all decent though.

On the bench, Rafinha we've been linked with. Malcom we all know of and of course RICKY PIG

Add in Onomah who didn't get to USA, Winks who is still in recovery and Sissoko injured v Barca and its getting even worse, especially in the CM area.

Single ray of good news from Lamela ?

#thfc Mauricio Pochettino says Moussa Sissoko has a hamstring problem. Erik Lamela also had a muscle problem after facing Roma but should be able to play against AC Milan. Victor Wanyama and Tashan Oakley-Boothe have flown back to London due to their injuries.

We look to be shaping up with 3 in central midfield (If you do take pre-season friendlies into consideration) meaning our central midfield options going into the new season look to be Dembele, Dier, Eriksen, Dele, Amos and Skipp.

Obviously no mention of how serious SIssoko's injury is and he could be available for the start of the season in 2 weeks time. If we play 2 in central midfield then we are more than covered to be honest. Still think we bring in a CM though.

Eriksen needs a bit less of a pre-season if you ask me. Give him the next 2 games off.

I'd probably give him some minutes - but not the full 90 like against Barcelona. He's one of, if not the fittest footballer at the club, so 45/60 minutes here and there should be more than fine.

I think the problem is, if we don't play Eriksen, we NEED to play Lamela due to the lack of creativity, so unless Lamela is fit for Milan it might be a bit of a problem.

Would love Amos and Skipp to get real minutes, but think it still makes us thin both CM and AM (if Eriksen and Dele need to be dropped back into CM) - leaves Lucas and Lamela as AM support with Harry, and Lamela pulling up injured v Roma is worrying if we don't have alternatives to rotate - think I'd prefer Georgiou to N'Koudou in that respect, but means squad is thin.

I'd play him in both remaining games, but maybe only 45 mins per match. Enough to get him back to form but not tired before season starts
We want him fresh in April, not on his knees.
The guy has not had any kind of break at all, he must be fit as the butcher's dog already.
If we lose the next 2 games who cares really?

Agree with your points but whilst fit he's probably not 'match fit' so probably needs some minutes before Newcastle to get passing and FK's inch perfect etc.
