Potter, Rodgers or a solid and proven European manager.

Not Nagelsmann full stop or Kompany, untested as yet.

Actually feel a bit bad for Poch if he takes the Chelsea gig.

Clearly wanted Spurs but also wants back in the prem.

If he's desperate enough to go Chavs after Enrique and Nagelsmann turned him down, that's rough.

Don't think it will tarnish him for me.

It’s a risky move. If he goes there and fails, that’s then PSG and Chelsea he’s had a rough time at. No top club will touch him for a long time.

However, if it all goes really well then Levy looks even more like a twat, and once again will be made to have an egg on his face.

Don't mind us not going for Poch if it was to appoint Nagelsmann, De Zerbi or possibly Enrique. Will be pretty sour if he goes to Chelsea and we end up with Slot, Amorim or Glasner.

Amorim and Glasner I completely agree. But why don't you fancy Slot?

I haven't watched much of his Feynoord at all. But watched a few games of his AZ and was quite impressed with him. Both his AZ and Feynoord teams played a possession biased game. I personally prefer a possession based approach. I get the Eredivise is very much not the PL and he may struggle to adapt what he did there to here - with us - but it wasn't just possession for the sake of possession, both his teams have over performed in terms of results too. Once could be serendipity, twice you start to think there's a bit more to it, no?

I'm not saying he'd be my first choice, but why don't you fancy him?

Im guessing I hardly know any more about him than you or anybody else here for a start, I've only seen a few games in Europe this year and last, and maybe two Erdevisie games. His teams play well, I don't really have a massive issue with him, that heavy defeat vs Roma comes when you have high level athletes with more ability vs Dutch league athletes with less ability. Kokcu and Geertruide the only two high level players. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kokcu replace MacAllister at Brighton.
And he doesn't seem dogmatic.. seems a good amount of difference between the team this year and last. Last yrs European run featured a lot of Malacia overlapping runs, different passing tendencies from Senesi at cb.. this yr the most attacking full back seems to be Geertruide but nearly all of his runs are inside the winger and into the box, other full back mostly crosses from deep and allows midfield players beyond him and into box.

I just think our supporters are pissed off, and the new manager will arrive to shakier support than most before him. Nothing against Slot as a coach or guy, I don't know him well enough to judge, I just have a feeling that it requires a coach of greater experience, and one who'll command more respect from fans and players from the off. Tactics, coaching ability, philosophy etc all obviously important but these big PL jobs require aura and authority, and I just think we'd be taking a big risk on him.

Thanks, good answer.

I concur with some of your very rational fears. I posted a few days ago that I fear many of our fans would pay lip service to buying into a "project" but would actually lack the patience for a methodical, idiosyncratic coach who takes time to work and turn things around, no matter how well intentioned he was.

Personally, I'd still happily take that punt. Even if it turns out to be a painful failure results wise, that maybe at least sews the seeds for a better style to develop and the baton gets taken on by another like minded coach (the way AVB's ethos laid a lot of groundwork for Pochettino).

I also feel those big name/ego appointments have generally proven to be even less successful and are not symbiotic with our model.

Big key for me, and almost more important, would be who we go for next as DOF. Really hope Levy doesn't fuck this again, as potentially whoever it is will shape future strategy, recruitment of players and coaches and playing ethos.

As I've said elsewhere, I like Moncada ( currently chief of scouting at Milan), but wouldn't be opposed to trying to tempt Rangnick back to proper work. The guy at Napoli (Christiano Giuntoli) has done a good job too. There's probably many others, but already I see we are being linked with Monchi - which strikes me as another really poor move (the guy was a genius up to around 5-6 years ago, but his latter oeuvre has been pretty poor - much like Paratici).

You got any thoughts on DOF?

Genuinely think that if Poch made a football club called Mauricio FC people would stop supporting Spurs and support them instead
Wouldn’t go that far but in an increasingly “football is a business” world filled with mercenary managers who genuinely couldn’t care less about the fans or their club (other than the paycheck), Poch seemed to have a genuine effection for us. Pair this with Poch having by far the most on field success of any Spurs manager in the Premier League era and why wouldn’t a lot of fans love him - particularly right now so soon after the end our abusive relationship with Conte.

Can’t see Conte or Jose having a bbq like this.

Plus there is the ever appealing unfinished business aspect which is a favorite of television and film dramas around the globe.

All the love dies of course if Poch signs up to lead Blue Scum.

Gallardo is the kind of appointment which could change our club for sure.
Thanks for the article. Good read. Didn’t know much about Gallardo before this - I’m now intrigued. As an added bonus maybe we could start signing youngsters like Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez if we sign up Gallardo.

Is he being considered - according to the usual sources?
