Which is pretty much the same team we have today though. Without the manager.
Most over performing team would be more accurate.

We were not over performing in 2016-17. We had an excellent starting XI and especially an excellent spine in the team. The problem teams run into is when they don't realize their weaknesses/cash in when the right offers come along. Also, it's about getting the right players in and we failed to make a lot of our 'squad' purchases the right ones.

For instance, it made sense to sell Kyle Walker in 2017 as he had fallen out with Pochettino and we got nearly 50m for him iirc. The mistake was buying Serge Aurier, who is a literal lunatic and cannot defend to replace him. It would have made sense to sell Eric Dier to United for 50m whenever they were sniffing around too. He was a good squad player, but we already had Victor Wanyama and could easily get another big player to come in to replace him with that kind of cash.

It made sense to sign a winger in 2016/17, the problem is we should have spent the money on Sadio Mane and not N'Koudou, Mane was keen to come but we didn't want to pay what was necessary. If we signed Mane, it would have allowed us to also sell someone like Alli/Lamela in the following years as well, which would have allowed us even more opportunity to refresh the squad. It made sense to sign a backup striker in 2016/17, the problem is it should not have been Vincent Janssen (a literal lump with virtually no instincts at this level).

We failed at two things that see us in our current situation, (1) we didn't sell players at the right time to allow us to refresh the squad enough and (2) we bought the wrong players when we tried to refresh the squad.

You said you was proud we went toe to toe with Chelsea in the league. That would mean we had a very good squad.
We had a good squad that was massively over achieving for years under one Mauricio Pochettino. The man we all used to sing He's magic, you know.

You do realise its pretty much the same squad that just scraped a draw with championship strugglers Middlesbrough, bottom of the table Norwich, and lost to a Southampton team that got humiliated 9-0 by Leicester.
The same squad Sammy. All in the last 3 games!

You do understand why we all sung that song, don't you. You just can't bring yourself to say it.

Levy is at the point now where he really has to deliver. Hes done a great job with the stadium. But hes run out of excuses with player recruitment.

We have lots of money. We generate lots of money. We pay some of the most expensive prices in the world. So now you need to buy some of the best players in the world.

We should be in for people like Fernandes, Haaland, Upemecano. No more excuses. Everyone can see these players are shot.

You do realise that Poch drained every last ounce of form, fitness and confidence out of this squad don’t you?

And you do realise that during Pochs tenure, Jose won the CC and EL double with Smalling, Darmian, Valencia and Blind as his back 4.
He also came 2nd.....but Jose won’t laud 2nd as an achievement.

Cry all you want about the squad.
You demanded Levy paid them whatever they wanted not long ago.....remember that John?

As you say, it’s the same squad....bar the new signings you are pretending didn’t happen of course.
The squad Poch built. Apart from the core which he inherited.
When Jose is given 5 years and 450M as Poch was, we’ll have some cups under our belt.

To be fair John, that gif has nothing to do with this thread. Or this forum. Or Football. But as Dick emery said. You are awful...

Got to agree

It’s stand up and be counted time

Next two windows are crucial

So how long is Piatek going to take to adapt to the team?

Another season, another Harry injury which sidelines him for a month, and this season we got rid of his backup in Llorente without replacing him.

Levy has done a lot of things right throughout his time at Spurs but his failure to add players for 18 months and his recent transfer dealings has truly royally fucked us in the ass.

A fine old mess he has got us in to. Only he can get us out of it. Fingers crossed everyone

One job. Maybe two. Important work, but £15m fee and another few million in salary and bonus? Not sure.
Yes possibly but thats the climate in modern football teams are paying obscene amounts of money on bang average players there’s no justification, though in Llorente’s case his return on the field was worth more than what we paid if you use CL quarters and semi as a guide. But look at Zaha yes I know palace don’t want to lose him but 80million :mourloopy:

Dude's cool it , Levy is the main cat , many dig his vibe . Rolling down the line.
I'm sure those scousers, Thai lovers , Arab cocksuckers, Chav motherfuckers look with uncontrollable envy.
After another trophyless season they always say to me "well, at least you managed to hold on to levy".

We need new owners, just read Joses comments on our transfer policy and it got me thinking, why the fuck are we sitting here just happy to accept owners who aren't willing to go out and be ambitious?

It's our football club, the supporters, we fund it, why are we so accepting of them running us this way? Because of the stadium? The thing they built to make ludicrous amounts of money for their business?

I want owners who will actually take us places, who respect the fans, make us competitive in the transfer market and above all else, focus on winning trophies for this football club.

I couldn't give a toss about ENIC and their goals of cracking the American market and developing property, that's their business but it isn't football and it isn't spurs, nothing is going to change unless they completely change the way they operate (highly doubtful) or we get new owners.
