Oi, fuck stick.

It was me who mentioned pill and the likliehood of getting knifed, and if you knew Newport, you'd say the same.

I'd say exactly the same about areas by WHL too, but we were discussing playing Newport away so it wasn't particularly relevant.

You have no idea how many games I've been to, or what kind of fan I am, but I tell you what sunshine, mug me off like that again, I'll meet you in the 'port and bottle yer teeth straight out yer gob. Got it? Good.

Feel free to get the fuck off our forum now...not sure why you think it's acceptable to sign onto opposition forums you armchair arsehole.

Ironsider beware cretinousgoat cretinousgoat is our top boy, pure lunatic like

Brilliant reading all the comments from Spurs fans obviously not from London, mocking Newport.

I've most likely been to your current home more times than the majority of posters on here to watch County, still, when we dump you out of the FA Cup you'll all know where little old Newport is.

You heard it here first, one of the biggest FA Cup upsets is on the cards.

Thanks Welsh Nostradamus.

Sado/Maso Like this draw. The missus has “family” in Newport.
Suicide capital of wales apparently but that won’t put me off. Meeting the missus’ ex in laws might do though. I’m metrosexual but this may push it to the limits. If we go...we have to take the children to see nana & grampa. Which will be hilarious seeing as the last time er indoors saw them she got spat at by an 80 year old. What could possibly go wrong?

Dear me, is this the type of muppet that'll be coming to Newport?

A rugby fan who threatens to bottle someone's teeth in on an internet message forum?

I've heard it all now :sonlol:
You have a better forum than Wimbledon, so well done on that. I haven't been posting there, honest.

Who the fuck is Newport County?
Did a quick google, I think this is it...

Here's their board of directors I believe:

Respect to Ironsider for getting the handle on our smileys. :vdvhmm:It took me 6 months to work out how they work.

I think he's a keeper. Honestly mate hope the day is a great occasion for your club and that you earn plenty out of it. The piss taking is what it is just piss taking.

By all means, anyone who supports their local club deserves respect.

Newport is a tough working class city and always has been, plenty of social deprivation but then Tottenham isn't exactly the nicest of areas is it?

That's why I find it hilarious reading some whopper posting that walking down an area of newport you're likely to get stabbed or pick up a prostitute, obviously missing the irony that the areas around WHL are equally, if not more, shite - but then I doubt fans like that have experienced football past playing FIFA or watching Sky sports news from their arm chairs.

I hope you put out a decent side and show respect for the competition and Newport, because we deserve it.

Never write anyone off in the FA Cup, do so at your peril.

You have never been to Newport have you? We are a shit hole but I love it, full of snack heads and filthy bitches, everyone sells a 0.6 of green for a gram, the way it's going you probably will be stabbed

I was born, raised and live in Newport, barring the occasional year or so elsewhere.

People run it down but it's no different to any other working class town or city. It has it's rough parts and it has it's nice parts, the reason it has such a bad name is because people post ignorant stuff like it's dangerous when in all honesty it's like anywhere else.

Walk down any inner city street like billy big bollocks and you're asking for trouble, it's not unique in that respect, just like if you'd walked around the areas in the vicinity of WHL you'd get the same - probably much more likely to get stabbed, in fact.

If you want trouble in Newport then you'll get it but by and large the majority of people here and friendly and welcoming - you can see for yourselves.

I'll leave plums like the cretinousgoat to tell all from his hundreds of visits to watch the rugby - should say it all really.
I live in Tottenham and have lived in North London all my life, and can relate to this. Some people on here have said they would never come to Tottenham away from the football but that's just people's fear not the truth of what it's actually like as a place. Of course if you want trouble you can find it but if you treat people with respect you'll be fine 99.9% of the time. I'm not sure whether you'd be more likely to get stabbed in Tottenham than Newport, I doubt it, most of the stuff that goes on is gang violence not involving people who aren't involved.

Looking forward to my first visit to Newport if I get a ticket, which with my loyalty points is possible though not guaranteed.

Ironsider fuck that shit. Tottenham fans are genuinely excited at having drawn Newport. So who should we look out for. Why are you called the exiles where have you exiled From? Cwmbran. What's your biggest rivals. What's chants do you have. What pubs and drinks should we look for. Tell us about the place. Yes we going to act like the Gobshite north London football aristocrats that we are but I really feel this will be a great occasion you may even get the replay out of us. Fuck sake not another Wembley day out.

The nickname exiles derives from the fact that in 1989 the original incarnation of Newport County went bust. Unfortunately only a year or so prior to this, clubs could fold as their original form and open up as a new limited company from that year - that's how Bristol City trade under Bristol City 1986 and I think Middlesborough did the same.

When we went bust, the club had to be reformed and start from scratch but the Welsh FA tried to force us into the Welsh football pyramid, along with a number of other clubs who become known as the irate 8. They went on to form the Welsh premiership but Newport refused and as such were banned from playing in Wales and had to play in near by Gloucestershire and that's where the nickname exiles comes from.

It is said that John Aldridge (former player) bought the rights to the name Newport County back for the club and we're also known as the ironsides, a nickname that referenced our old ground at Somerton Park being adjacent to Cromwell Road.

It took us 25 years to get back into the football league, our badge shows the year we were formed, 1912 and the year we were reformed, 1989. Newport has a partizan fan base, passed down from generation to generation.

People from Newport are proud and having County in the football league means everything - to draw Spurs in the cup is massive and will be talked about for years.

Local rivals are Cardiff City, Bristol Rovers and to an extent, Swansea.

There are countless pubs and bars in the city, the ground is within a 5 minute walk of the centre and pretty much easy as it gets to navigate from the train station - barring an escort.

It will be a great occasion and it seems to have caught the footballing worlds imagination, which can only be a good thing for both clubs.

We came back from 14 points a drift last season to stay in the football league with a last minute winner in the final game. We have kicked on from that and are challenging for promotion this season with some of the best football I've seen for years.

Hope that fills you in on a few things about the County.
It's a great away day, perfect really except for the small allocation! I too think you have a decent chance of a replay. Depends on our mentality on the day, and how the game unfolds of course.

I managed to get a ticket for Colchester a couple of years ago on my season ticket, so there's a chance, can't remember how big that allocation was but pretty small. It will depend on how many people want to go. If everyone above me applies I won't get one.

I'd probably drink slightly away from the ground as the area around it isn't the best.

Excelsior club allows away fans, but would also suggest the Godfrey Morgan wetherspoons which is roughly a ten minute walk from the away end.

The Lamb pub on bridge street does some decent real ales.

Most of Newport is fucking dodgy, despite what that numpty said (being born and bred in newport makes him both highly biased, and possibly inbred). However, it's no worse than the areas around WHL for the most part, maybe with exception to Pillgwenlly - an absolute fucking shitehole just down commercial stret (the main through road in Newport). I'd avoid there to be honest, but you'll have no real reason to go there, unless you fancy a cheap hooker and a faceful of aids. On the plus side, it's not far from the Royal Gwent hospital so at least you'll get medical treatment reasonably quickly!

To show I'm not talking bollocks, here's a linky. That area is slowly getting better but still..

Inside the Red Light District in a Welsh city where sex sells at all hours

Rodney Parade itself is around a 15 minute walk from the train station.

Can't wait for this game!
