Just watching the match now. That challenge he made in the first half where he stopped a cross and then got back up instantly to knock it out was awesome. He looked so comfortable on either foot too which allowed toby and jan to break into more space and drive forward

I thought Toby looked sublime on the right hand side of defence. I initially thought he'd play in the middle of the 3 but with Sanchezs pace it makes sense to have him covering both Jan and Toby.

Three at the back with Rose and Aurier wing backs will cause all sorts of problems this year. Add the wardrobe that is Wanyama to the park and the high defensive line Poch wants is really taking a serious shape to it.

Agree. But I like Dier in CM. He is much better going forward. He can play people in to score goals.

Sometimes Wanyama and Dembele can be a little negative.

Sick o cunts comparing our good players to Ledley King. King did fuck all for the club. He had talent and potential but in the end cost us more in wages than he ever gave back. Just an injury prone might've been. Sick of the revisionism
Well that's one POV (though without him the whole Spurs project wouldn't have picked up under Jol). But you omit the emotional factor, King came after the arsol debacle that really made us look like a laughing stock. Combined with his role in the 04-08 surge he was a leader in a time we desperately needed one. Having King was pivotal in keeping us up there in the Great Game of media and image, attract supporters and strengthen the Spurs brand

I didn't see his time like that. I just understood King as another Anderton type: good talent but not a player any other clubs would give a fuck about because they are so injury prone and therefore unreliable. In other words, I felt he was a passenger. I understand we will always have players who are frail, that's just the luck of the draw, but why should we celebrate them as if they achieved something? We're guilty of rewriting history.

I find it embarrassing because I don't know of any top clubs who would celebrate King's career had he been their player. The fact we celebrate King is a hallmark of our low standards, and I think they are a hangover from the nineties.

It was a miracle he got through the games he did. He played and spent the whole week in rehab getting fit for the next game. It is a testament to his abilities that he was not expected to train with the team but was a first choice when fit. If king had half the pain he went through I have no doubt that he would have had twice the career Terry had. Football is cruel. He could have been one of the greatest but such is life. It isn't celebrating mediocrity but cheering Loyalty, effort and sheer determination to get on that field and represent the club he loved. That is why we loved King and that is why he will remain a Spurs Legend.
