When you think about it, finishing 7th and getting conference league might have been our best chance to make Europa in 2024/25. Hard to see us breaking top 6 next season.

IMO we need a season out of Europe completely. We have never given it a proper go apart from the CL final ( and we rode our luck during that campaign) so in our current state we need to avoid any extra pressure.

I've come to that conclusion too. A man can only stand a certain amount of disappointment and heartache. We have feelings too, you know - we just show them in different ways.

Don’t be stupid.

In the minds of 50% of us here finishing top 4 to get knocked out of the CL in the round of 16 the following season is where we need to be as a club.

Only thing this guarantees is another trophyless season next year.

Interested to see how this train more but play less works for this bunch of chancers we call a football squad.

Is getting in the Top 6 our new everything?

atleast we wont have to see the second 11 players putting inhalf hearted displays needing Kane to come on to try to save the day

We are not winning the League next year, but could pick up European silverware. Why wouldn’t you want to compete in Europe - so you can qualify for Champions League following year - should be able to field a team Thursday and Sunday.

No chance of coming 6th this season, Brighton have 2 in hand still.

Doesn’t really work like that. West Ham came 7th last season and ended up in a part relegation battle with Conference League football this season.

European football takes its toll on the squad and affects our performance in the league. There are 2 cups we get a chance to win each season called the league cup and FA cup and unlike the conference league they are not Mickey Mouse competitions but proper cups.

The club needs a proper reset like it has never had before. The Conference League would make that much harder. The goal next season should be to implement a modern progressive football style built top to bottom from CFO down to scouts, getting rid of deadwood players and brining in new players.

Chelsea beat us to the title when they had no European football and just one game a week. Leicester also had that advantage during their title win. Having no European football can give space to a team if it is properly used.

Harder to win than Conference

Fair enough but unlikely to get us into a battle at the bottom and without Kane and a few injuries that isn’t beyond possibility. There is a big underestimation of what is required, I just see it as a distraction if we are genuinely looking at rebuilding the club. You know full well we won’t buy the depth needed to cover all comps.

All depends on the draw though. We scraped to that League Cup final in 2021 after drawing with Chelsea and beating championship Stoke and Brentford, and getting a bye vs Orient. Then it's a one off in the final, we know we can beat even City.

ECL has mostly easy teams, but what is it, 15 matches? It's gruelling and the quarter finals onwards can still be difficult draws. European tournaments are never easy is my point.

The league has to be our focus and priority next season. Missing out on ECL is a healthy outcome from a very unhealthy season.
If he truly wants to get the fans back onside then trophies are a priority in my eyes. Right now competitions like the conference league are our level. League Cup, fa Cup or conference league if we make it and a top 8 finish is realistic to me. I think top 4 is gone for some considerable time now with the emergence of Newcastle and what I think will be the re-emergence of Chelsea next year. Liverpool will spend united will spend Woolwich will spend Newcastle will spend we'll fuck about and get 3rd 4th rate players again. The games up for enic and levy now in terms of top 4 and the revenue that brings them. The only way they can save themselves from this situation getting worse is some silverware imo.
