People still crying about him? The truth is he's a good manager but it just didn't work out.

I think it was due to the lack of a proper work life balance in the first place combined with all the shit going on in his personal life last season. Also the fact that he never sticks around for very long anyway.

Teams were starting to see through his rigid and predictable patterns and he didn't seem to be interested in doing any coaching to fix those issues, instead hoping to get more money on players who would do a better job performing those same instructions. And tbh, when they're performed well, it's not that bad.
He just has a different approach to the game and sees it differently. But people don't like possession-less based systems unless there's a title at the end of it, and even then they don't like it.

Either way, I'm glad he's gone. If he stayed another year and got the players he wanted we would currently have Zaniolo, Traore and Lukaku in the team.

My thoughts exactly.

Ironic; considering you're bitterly still pining for him and won't accept the new guy because of it.
Hahah, wrong. I have no opinion about Conte, what I don’t like is that he’s overly criticized, which is happening mostly because some ultra sensitive fellas got triggered by what he said after the Southampton game. In fact, if you track back my posts before we hired him, I still hoped/wanted us to hire ten Hag over Conte.

As for Postecoglou, it’s not that I’m not accepting him, it’s that I wasn’t excited at all about his appointment and I am still not fully convinced that he is the manager who can take us forward. So far it looks like I’m wrong, but remember we also played well for about 10 games the season Conte took over. If Postecoglou can do it over a season and more, I’ll likely be convinced he’s the man.

I have no grudge against Conte although I do have mixed feelings about his spell at Spurs....but it was Spurs who sacked him and not he who took the decision about him stopping at Spurs (from what I read in the press, that is)

At Tottenham, he had immediate success when he led the team back to Champions League football despite taking them from almost mid table. A combination of poor health, losing his close friend and issues of player transfer meant he threw his toys out of the prawn and was eventually relieved of his duty.

Asked whether he was looking to return to coaching soon, he said he was very clear when he left Spurs that he wanted to spend time with his family. He told Calciomercato: “Future? I enjoy my family. I made a clear choice when I decided to stop with Tottenham.

“I want to rest and enjoy my family but many things can happen along the way. Napoli? Great respect and education are needed.”

I don't actually hate Conte at all. I thought he was let down by his players against Sheffield United away and AC Milan at home and Southampton away. His rant after Saints away was justified.

He got us into the top 4 when it was virtually impossible, had a great start last season, left us in the top 4, and was knocked out of the ECL that Mourinho won due to covid.

Now, did I want him gone at times because of atrocious results and football? Yes. And it didn't help Woolwich overtaking us playing some good stuff. But I seriously would not have sacked Conte, Mourinho, or Pochettino before the end of their seasons. And even Jose or Poch could not have left us in 4th.

Conte is also a man, I do not forget, who was suffering with health problems and the death of a friend, and I was surprised we even got him in the first place. He is like that hot woman you fancy that got away, except somehow Levy coerced him back for a year long fling. It still leaves me a bit bamboozled now that we actually still got to fuck the pornstar who ghosted us.

I hope he does well at Napoli, or wherever else he goes. I'd back him to be a success.

In reality it isn’t clear what he will do. In Italy they say in Naples but Aurelio De Laurentis is very stingy. In my opinion, with Conte he would fight like Fight Club as soon as he asks for 3 players

Much ado about nothing. Or rather, to return to the starting point. No turnaround, no Neapolitan revolution: Napoli moves forward with Rudi Garcia, despite the no-confidence vote received publicly on Tuesday morning. Aurelio De Laurentiis tried in every way to convince Antonio Conte to accept the new position as Napoli coach: yesterday the president and coach spoke several times, they tried to think about the possibility of finding a solution that would satisfy all parties. But in the end the knot wasn't untied, Conte didn't feel like taking over and everyone went ahead with their own initial idea: De Laurentiis decided to give Garcia one last chance, to take charge of the team and prove up to the demands of the club and fans; Conte will continue to enjoy his family as he desired and as he also admitted on Tuesday evening at the celebration of Agnelli's hundredth anniversary at the helm of Juventus. The "no" was neither due to an economic problem nor to a technical factor. The real enemy was the timing: the idea of entering the race was never liked by Conte, who has loved shaping his team since retiring. But the temptation in Naples was strong.

...one day, i'd like to coach a team that has recently won”.
What a cunt!

A "team that has recently won," would have no need for his services...
and he clearly doesn't have the talent or patience to turn around a club who hasn't been winning recently (like us)
....so what he's saying is, he just wants to simply turn up and continue to enjoy (and no doubt take credit for) a club already winning things....

There are fans like that the world over.... They're deridlingly called Glory Hunters!

I did say when Ange was appointed it was going to paint this guy in a bad light, every passing day he just looks worse and worse, he's probably sitting there watching us thinking that he needs to get back into management soon in order to restore his reputation.

I couldn't disagree with what he said in the fallout from the Southampton game with regards to the attitude from the players and the the ownership, but the "changing a manager" comment is now proven wrong.

It of course helps that a manager with a more "can do" approach, with the "right" players is seeing a turnaround but it's not been major surgery. How much of what was wrong was down to him, Nuno and Jose?

I certainly can.

According to him; precisely NONE of it...... And that's why I take umbrage with both him and everything he said in the last 2/3 weeks of his tenure.

His responses to the AC & Sheff U games were fucking pathetic to the point that his parting shots at the players and owners (and fans in the weeks before!) were utterly hollow.

"20 year and the owners never won"?

- Juande Ramos won more here than you did.
- Poch took us to greater heights than you despite spending a fraction of the money over a 3 x longer time-frame.

Fuck off.

You first say "the truth is he's a good manager".. Then you go on and describe him as a really dreadful manager without the ability to adapt to circumstances.

The truth is that he's a really bad manager.

I’d say more accurately that he’s a checkbook manager.

He can win when he’s the richest team in the league or if he has ready made players in their primes. But so can many other managers. Most don’t get the chance to go to clubs like this.

Bingo. The guy is a total fraud and a dinosaur now. We’ve made a lot of comparisons of him against Mourinho, but Mou looks pretty good in comparison.

I'll be the first to admit that when we signed him, I thought that if he couldn't "fix" us, nobody could. His reputation was that high but even then, it always felt that he was doing us a favour by managing us.
I appreciate that the last few months of his tenure were difficult for him from a personal note, but he should have been honest and asked for some time off, to be with his family.
But he caused havoc at that time, throwing accusations and blame at everyone but himself,
And I'm not even going to mention how turgid the football was most of last season, he was asking for the sack, so he'd get his payoff.
I have nothing but contempt for the guy.
Big Ange is the complete opposite in every way he can be, thank goodness.
Maybe we had to suffer the dross of Mourinho, Nuno and Conte to realise and appreciate what we have now.

With every interview he has given after leaving us Conte just seems like a man who isn't capable of winning unless the club is already setup for success before he joins.

I think he's massively overrated tbh and he can get fucked as far as I am concerned.

Big Ange is a breath of fresh air and the real leader this club always needed.
