In their first seasons they continued to play the same way, that's the point.

Comparing Ange's first season to Pep and Klopp in their 8th or whatever is a false equivalence, when you have better players and a team that you can trust you can start to adapt.

I'd find this argument a lot more convincing if it wasn't for the fact we've had one game a week with loads of time for Ange to train the team, and the other fact that the more time he's had to train the team the worse we've played.

And we're not just poor from set pieces or struggling in transitions, we're poor going forward. I don't remember this happening in Klopp or Pep's first seasons. As this season has gone on we've got significantly more stales and nobody has progressed as a footballer.

Back Ange in the summer, give him more time (we need to do this as a club) but eeek the way this season has gone does not have me totally convinced of the idea we will see Pep or Klopp style progression with this team.

(I didn't want to say rebuild because someone will have a meltdown)
We're only going to be getting a couple* of ready made players in the summer transfer window, and probably some youngsters to loan out.

*My guess is Eze and Gallagher. So watch out Premier League for our treble winning team next season.

Yes fine, next season is when we judge.

There's a few worrying signs but I think they're quite easily fixable.

Klopp and Pep had better forward players than us in their first seasons (Klopp's first full season, both manager's issues came in defence.

Yes this is definitely what I said.
you said about klopp and pep being stubborn...thats exactly what not changing your system is when down to 9 men! its beyond stubborn, its fucking retarded and was probably the start of doubts creeping into the players.

being manager of tottenham isnt the same as being manager of celtic. no one watches celtic games bar celtic fans! the premier league has eye balls on it all over the world! hanging your players out for embarrassment in a game against chelsea isnt the same as doing it like hes done at previous clubs to 'get his philosophy' through to his players.

Bailey starts of the right and rotates with Johnson.

Douglas Luiz starts for us IMO he's a better option than anything we have as a shield.

Martinez is different to Vicario; but he isn't bullied on corners. 🤣
Bailey doesn't always start for Villa but I would rather Kulu & johnson ahead of him.

If Spurs wanted a player to sit in front of the back 4 to win tackles and give it simple then that man is Ollie Skipp in my opinion. His best attribute is his aggression and willingness to win tackles.

Villa's squad is mediocre without Mcginn & Watkins.

Always going to be an obstacle sadly, he will never leave his position at the club.
Even if new investment comes in, he would still want to control everything, what we need is someone to tell him to fuck off.
As for Ange, he could do better if, he could just stop the zonal marking shit, the team dominate the ball, and it's all undone by rank bad defending every game.
Ange is a good bloke but, the way he sets up, he is ruining us and draining players morale.
We need a top striker no matter the cost
We can afford it...*sigh*

So that's one excellent player and Gallagher....Ange is out of his mind...Gallagher offers nothing we want or need...he'll be another Maddison...expensive and a waste of space...bring back N'dobby....

I'm not worried about Postecoglou saying "No Plan B" or not being concerned about set pieces. I don't think he means everything he says literally. He's created an image that plays to what fans like to hear and uses it to send messages to the players (which all coaches do). He's still a coach and coaches know they have to win to continue in the job. So, while I don't think he's going to take the opponent into account and ever drop back and park the bus, I do think he will make in game adjustments. And he will adjust personnel and substitutions based on the opponent and situation and that's a kind of Plan B. I imagine they will spend more time on set pieces in practice going forward and might even hire a specialist coach for that but just not announce that as his job. Postecoglou seems, to me, to be stubborn and he'll keep saying the same thing over and over when he doesn't need to. All this stuff about not wanting to make Champions League if the team isn't progressing. That's just conveying an attitude. He gets paid to win and, who knows what's in his contract that incentivizes certain goals. I listen to what the manager says and disregard about half of it.

You're talking about a single game in isolation, I'm talking about their respective first seasons over 9 months, your argument is redundant and you're just projecting, spare me.
