Yet as per my above list.... Things may well not be as"strong" as they appear on paper at CM.

(+ only MD & HW can actually play the position in mean. i.e. Not DM. Reminder: How panfull was it vs Newcastle on this front????)

By comparrison;

Eriksen
Deli
Son
Lucas
Lamela (Last on the list just for you, bud. : P )

...Looks more stacked with quality and options than I've EVER known us!

Similarly, dont think I'm not keen to experiment with Eriksen (and Lamela).

(Intriguingly tho, Poch had the option to do this vs NUFC and opted not to...♧

Let's just truce on the notion that its not a pressing need to tinker with the AMs until such time as any of them (Deli too?) do start to spend a disproportionate amount of time at CM or we have a genuine opportunity to improve the first 11 attackers.

Taking a simple view (big fan of simple! lol):

Weakest areas for me are RB and CM (during the half of the season Dembele isn't playing or firing).

For me RB and game changer which ain't Lamela and he ain't good enough to start , we should really be looking to sign 4 or 5 this summer anyway imo.

That's absolute bullshit and you know that. You have an agenda against Son and it's obvious for anyone to see. I've noticed in match threads that you don't even celebrate when he scores. You never compliment him and is always the first to put him down. Funny that you think Son is limited, Lamela is probably the most limited player in our team. All the opposition defenders have to do is force him onto his right foot and that's him out of the game. Also I'd love if you elaborated on why you think Son's decision making and tactical awareness is that of a championship player. Would love to hear how you judge that
Can only think it's racist. No other logical, or illogical, reason. Reminds me of the lunatic Rangers "fans" who wouldn't celebrate Mark Hateley's goals. They didn't count as he wasn't a prod.

If the means and - just as importantly - the focus is there, then I'm not against a bit of a freshen up, but I'm even more keen on locking our 'stars' down the best we can with improved contracts (In which case you wouldn't hear me grumble about another modest window of essential purchases only).

......Remove said 'star' players from the equation and its nigh on impossible to deny that in fact Lamela would be our "level".

Tbh.... On a bad day, Son is many, if not all, of the things Don Giovanni Don Giovanni lists, but if he and/or the team are on form he's a deadly little bugger and it would be disingenuous to deny his up-side.

Bit like JD all over again... IMO.

King of the proverbial purple patch... Offside lots... Get's digs from fans and colleagues alike at times for being a bit greedy.... But; knows where the goal is and glad we have him; clearly a smashing lad t'boot.

Not a bad comparison that. Defoe and Son. Obviously Sonny is the better player but yea, when they are on, they are flames.

How is what you're quoting telling you any different?

"Rather we replaced our entire central midfield before signing someone to replace Lamela to sit on the bench"

"Central midfield needs more work than our bench does"

What's the difference here?

Been reading both your posts for five minutes now and can see no difference in the spirit in which both were posted. Different words, but saying EXACTLY the same.
He’s had a nightmare there. And then calls you a thick cunt. Just when I think this thread can’t get more special, I get stunned anew.

You are clearly fucking daft aswell then

Most of the time he never seem to be aware where his teammates are. He never bothers himself to look up and spot his teammate.

He has lost possession countless times due to his heaviest first touch.

He often shoots rather than squaring it to a teammate in much better position.

His passing is arguably as good as Sissoko's.

In tight games where there is no space to run, he usually looks clueless and out of idea. That's because he doesn't possess the intelligence to create a space, neither is he gifted enough to make something out of nothing.

He doesn't seem to understand that offensive players have defensive responsibilities too. When the team doesn't have possession he doesn't close down spaces or help out his fullback.

I could go on but this is not his thread so this discussion doesn't belong here. It's Lamela thread btw, I'd prefer we discuss about him.
Well I'd argue that Lamela is fairly brainless as well. Very often people will praise him for pressing or running a lot, but very often he takes himself out of the game with his braindead running at the opposition. So often you'll see him charging at a player who has 2 or 3 options around him, a simple 1-2 pass and Lamela is left for dead and an entire flank is open.

Son has plenty of times made something out of nothing, Lamela on the other hand barely does anything other than rolling his feet over the ball. Lamela always throws the ball away with his weird no look passes or his refusal to use anything other than his left leg. He can't even pass the ball 2-3 meters with his right leg

I often think that maybe not as severely as you but i feel Erikssen is far more intelligent in how he expends his energy especially off of the ball where as Lamela charges around a bit rashly at times.

Call it "rash", call it 'fire'; to whatever degree that's a far fairer comment...

Eriksen is a machine! ...Shocked how he's evolved on that level... Still a bit of a 'nice guy' (luv you, Cris!), but that's ok, his press/chasing still works.

As for Lamela, I think it's equally about how the players are deployed; how Poch tries to maximise the personality/temperament (see: Deli?). It's not all about da tekkers, innit); especially when Lamela's coming off the bench, Poch is pretty much just releasing the proverbial hounds. Diff. oppo plays a part too... Sometimes you need to fight fire with fire. It's no accident that Lamela usually features in such circumstances.

Fun fact.... Lamela has never had a red card in a Spurs shirt. Meanwhile, Juve @ home argues that collectively we're still too nice.

He has just returned from 14 months Injury which could have ended his career, of course he's not going to hit the ground running.

Get back to me by the start of the next season after he has had a summer and a full pre season.

Definition of just:

very recently; in the immediate past.
"I've just seen the local paper"
synonyms: a moment ago, a second ago, a short time ago, very recently, not long ago, lately, only now
"I just saw him"

I believe he was back in training not long after the season started then played his first game in November. I.e. Six months ago. I can't see how you can keep using this as an excuse. It will more than likely still be being used next season. There seems to be a perrenial excuse available for him - still adjusting to life in England, adjusting to the PL, still returning to full fitness after a season out (twice) and requires a further year to get back to his best once in training.

Funny no-one's feels the need to seek excuses for Son, who's never had an uniterupted pre-season with us, has had a broken arm and a toe injury to deal with. Do you know why? Because Son does his talking on the pitch, ever since he scored the winning goal on his home debut.

He hasnt been great lately but neither he nor I would want to use the excuse that he's been playing on pain meds due to an ankle injury:

발목 통증 손흥민, 세심한 관리 중요성 커졌다

And he still managed to influence the game more than Lamela.
