We are quite simply: rubbish.

If we get 4th it will be a sad indictment on the quality of the league.

Lo Celso is the only footballing brain on the pitch and I feel sorry he has to play with that shower. When you are relying on Son, Alli and Lucas for consistency you are bound to struggle. We squander so many attacking moments because while each of them can produce good moments they are not consistently assured in their decision making or their technique and there is as much chance of a nice through ball as a missed control.

I think Son has enough quality to last but in the long term I feel we need to replace Alli and Lucas as they are not top drawer. In Lo Celso and Ndombele we have the future of our midfield and we simply have to build around that.

Still a lot of work to do Jose...

Don't think it matters if we can get the job done and address our shortcomings over the summer.

Genuine question; can anyone ever remember a Spurs squad with nothing but top quality in every position regardless of injuries?

I guess a win is a win but once again far from convincing.
We looked so laboured and a team lacking in confidence. We need a big win to give everyone that confidence.
When they got their pen and scored, who was surprised? Because I wasnā€™t, who was half expecting them to get a second? Because I was.
2, 3, 4 years ago that would have been a convincing thrashing and the game would have been over after 30 mins, we just donā€™t do that anymore.
Norwich always had belief and whilst thereā€™s belief it can always come back to haunt you. We must take that belief away from these teams, we need to assert authority and blow these teams away early on.

Anyway as I said, a win is a win and top 4 is still well and truly in our sights. What we do over the next 7 or 8 days will dictate where that goes.

So...was interested at the amount of grief deli had on here last night. Wasn't able to watch the game and sounded like he was having a mare. Watched match of the day and they said he was really good and that he had been the most important player in our recent matches and the driving force behind our recent results (lol). Anyways, it made me wonder who was right? The forum or the pundits? (I would say that the forum would be more accurate as a lot of you go to the games week in week out whereas pundits often are watching highlights or 2 or 3 games at a time...pundits also seem to stick to cliches such as eriksen is amazing at free kicks which we all know is nonsense!)
Pay more attention to this place than any commentator/pundit.

All the commentators still think Eriksen is a dead ball specialist and a real threat from the edge of the box. We all know differently - his only threat is to the opposition's knees.

Having said that, other than his goal, I thought Dele was average. Plenty of impossible passes.

In fairness to the tourists around me, they were positive and excited throughout. Fucking annoying still but positive. Overall atmosphere was shocking though. Didnā€™t hear anything meaningful from the South Stand. Just a lame and depressing ā€œstand up if you hate A...ā€
Unfortunately, I wasn't talking about the Tourists!!

I was talking about the fat, middle-aged, WHITE 'pug dog' men who not only should know better, but have SURELY seen worse!

The 'tourists' next to me were nothing but positive throughout... and when Son scored, WOW, the place went wild!

I KNOW the car park exit on Park Lane looked like downtown Seoul after the match, and I feel for anyone with epilepsy due to all the flashing phone cameras, but at LEAST they've travelled halfway round the world to SUPPORT Spurs (well, Son!) ...rather than travelling 2 miles down the road to fucking moan and complain for 80 minutes, until we got the winner!

Yep, this one:

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Dier, Eriksen, Kane, Son, Dele.

The one that we pointedly and repeatedly refused to reinforce - which (in part) has led to the situation we find ourselves in today and the abysmal, brainless, gutless, witless performances we turn in.

Liverpool are going to win the League in possibly less than 30 GAMES!!!

That's just ridiculous....... They've only dropped 2 points the whole season.

They're good but they're not THAT good..... What a time to have a half decent team when the other 19 turn to shite.

These are my views as well.

Liverpool are a really good team BUT the rest of the league, apart from City and they've not been great, is very average. Leicester and Chelsea in the Top 4? Neither are brilliant and in other seasons would be 7th at best.

It's a shit season for many this year including us.

:mourweird:

How many people have you got on 'ignore'?!

All highlighted players were either still regularly criticised or who's best form is suspected to be a flash in the pan.

I agree, their best days are behind them, but that team was 4 or 5 years ago and we refused to re-inforce it when we were at our strongest. 2 or 3 quality new additions every summer.

Instead we bought Aurier, Lucas, Sanchez etc, plus other more obvious duds.

Ferguson would never have allowed this to happen. Keane was surprised if there weren't several new faces in the changing room when he turned up for pre-season.

Go back to those old match threads and you'll soon see the criticism I'm talking about.

Obvious duds?

Funny how so few said that were at time of signing.

100m of signings there btw.

Ferguson would never have allowed this to happen. Keane was surprised if there weren't several new faces in the changing room when he turned up for pre-season.

Yet Fergie is widely claimed to have left them with a sub-par squad; the level of which had been declining for years.

My actual point here is regarding every team having weaker links in it's chain and the importance of being greater than the sum of it's parts....

Thanks for trying to shoehorn all your shit in tho.

A personal highlight for me was the commentator calling our 2nd keeper Gazzinga, presumably to avoid saying the N word

When you speak of tourists, what exactly do you mean?

I believe the team we had 3 or 4 seasons back would have been doing the same in similar circumstances.
Can't knock em though.
You can only beat whats in front of you.

Obvious duds?

Janssen, Nkoudou, Njie?

That 2016 team was crying out for reinforcement (and some of us at the time were shouting for it). There were lots of people claiming we didn't need it. Frankly they were/are mad.

It never came and here we are.

That 2016 team had very few weak links and was definitely greater than the sum of its parts. The opposite of what we saw last night.

Maybe 'Ferguson at his peak' would have been a better way of putting it. He was in decline the last few years and could see retirement in sight.

With Lo celso starting to look like at home and Ndombele hopefully getting fit again I canā€™t help but think that we would shoot up this shit league with a decent striker or a healthy Kane.

Lo celso and Tanguy in the same team at full pelt will create soooo many chances, I hope we have someone clinical to finish them off by the end of Jan.

The performance on the whole was lacking but I canā€™t help but be excited that our new signings have serious potential.
