This has been the refrain literally every summer since I've followed the club.

I wish I could believe we were capable of doing the volume of business (never mind the net financial investment) to complete an overhaul of the squad and dressing room culture, but none of the available evidence gives us reason to believe that.

Not least of which because we're 70M in the hole just moving forward with the team we already have (Kulu and Porro)

The thought of the players reading this poll, especially our captain who has given 11 years to the club.

For the record, I selected Lloris and others. Just feeling like a shitty person right now.

I could only choose 3 for the same reason.

This is why I'm only a legend on Football Manager and not the real thing

Cherki, Caqueret, Lukeba all worth a look.

Cherki really starting to figure it out. Probably better off in France for another year or two but he'll be on Madrid/PSG/City radar if his attitude remains good. Great talent.. would turn into some player if he was sensible enough to join Brighton. Caqueret is a very tidy player, technically better than all of our mids and works hard. Lukeba needs to bulk up, tidy up lofted long passes and mature a bit.. but a very high level left footed cb prospect.

Voted for:

Hugo
Sess
Dav
Japh
PEH
Peri

Also gone:

Lucas
Lenglet
Danjuma

Also out:

McDombele
Reg
GLC
Winks
Rodon

.......The thought of any more on top of that is exhausting, but:

Kulu?
Dier?
Emerson?
Spence?
Loans for the kids?

You speak to OL fans and a fair few think it's more likely Cherki will turn into Ben Arfa v2.0 than the new Benzema.

Kid has talent, yes, but he's not setting Ligue 1 on fire week in week out, is he. Doesn't score or assist loads, wastes possession plenty. Refuses to defend, which ain't all that surprising...kid has a massive ego and poor attitude.

A gigantic no from me. Let him go PSG, he's perfect for them.

Only ones we should keep squad wise if we have aspirations of getting close to where we have been before are:

Forster, Spence, Porro, Udogie, Perisic, Romero, Lenglet, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son, Kane. 14 players in a 22 man squad really shows how far we are from being that team and I've been generous with a couple of those.

And some of them aren't that good.

However 5 or 6 astute signing and a good flexible manager could make such a difference.

Kid's 19. he's got 3 goals and 5 assists in 1500 minutes of football. His XA 0.36 pg. 50% higher than anyone in our team. only 0.09 worse than Messi's. I've seen him live this season and he was pretty good. Can use both feet. Go inside/out. Of course he wastes the ball, what wingers don't, but he's also got one of the highest per 90 chance creation stats in Ligue1. He definitely needs to work better off it, but he's got more about him than Kulusevski. who is also shit without the ball.

Bradley Barcola worth mentioning too. 20yo can play across the front three, usually as WLF inverted (right footed) he's scoring and creating for others at a decent rate. Tall, technically pretty good, can move with the ball, not tricky like Cherki, more direct.

lol. you make out like hes done us a favour. hes been here 11 years because no one better wanted him. hes had it cushty for 11 years and taken big money from the club in the process. madness how hes captain, no coincidence 'spurs' tag gets coined while this blokes the captain.

be honest with yourself. hes had farrrr more big time blunders than he has moments where hes really saved the team. how many saves has he pulled off in them 11 years where it was a BIG save that people go wow? i mean i cant think of any off the top of my head but ill give him say 5! then how many big blunders has he done where hes completely fucked us?...lost count! thats not even getting into the shit hes causes by not being able to kick a ball properly.

its symbolic that he has the biggest keeper fuckup in a world cup final....say no more.

This window has to be about pragmatism given we have a long list of players we need to move on (including loanees this season such as Ndombele, Lo Celso, Reguilon, Winks and Rodon) to stop subsidising their wages (= free up wages budget for incoming players plus whatever fees we can get to help fund incoming players) and can probably only bring in about 6 players - for reasns of costs and integrating them into the squad.

We probably also have obligations to pay 100% of fees for Porro and Kulusevski which will reduce available cash. Equally players like Lenglet might be a cheap purchase, but as we don't own him now, I don't treat him as siomeone to retain

Not a popular opinion, but its probably close to reality.

So who stays - Forster, Austin or Whiteman (3rd GK), Spence, Porro, Udogie, Perisic, Romero, Davies, Dier, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp, Sarr, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son, Kane (17 players)

That gives us 3 Club trained players (Kane, Skipp, Austin) and 3 'Trained at other FA affiliated clubs' (Forster, Davies, Spence) ....... so if we have the maximum allowed 17 overseas trained players we can get to a 23 man squad.

Also means we are retaining 11 overseas trained players so can recruit 6 other overseas trained players (although it benefits us to buy any top HG players available such as maybe Raya)

But to get to that point we need to sell the likes of Lloris (hopefully moves to Saudi on a free) Sanchez, Royal Sessegnon, Hojbjerg, Gil (6 players) - 'do able' and maybe we can upgrade on one or two of the 17 players provisionally listed as 'Retained' above.

6 Players to bring in (ideally one or two quality HG players)

GK
1 x CB
1 x LCB/LWB
1 x CM
1 x AM/winger
1 x forward

Not easy with the number of players to offload (permanently not on loan)
