Ade might've scored against Newcastle and on form he's definitely our #1, but has been poor this season. Soldado can't score to save his life but has been playing well lately. I say let Soldado start against Villa, with Kane just behind him to tap in the rebound after one of Soldado's trademark near-misses. :soldadowatch:

Soldados performance last night was no better than Ade's recent performance at Southampton

1 prolific season at Woolwich 07/08 just before a new contract is due. Average the season after signing it.

Signs for City good season 1 before going right off the boil and having to be loaned to Madrid.

Joins us on loan great season 1 gets him a transfer and new deal. Season 2 just 5 league goals. Season 3 banished for being a cunt to his boss and then returns straight after his sacking and scores 8 in his first 11 games, since then just 5 in his last 18.

Why did city sign him if he was average? They could have got anyone in.

Stop talking drivel.

Proven? Proven he is inconsistent. Across his 8 PL seasons he is close to a goal every 2nd in only half of those seasons. A goal in every 8 and every 5 in two of the other 4!

He is inconsistent.

He still scores more goals than Soldado.

Ade being poor, doesnt make Soldado better. Soldado is judged on Soldados game.

Should I start printing off some Rasiak stats to show how good Ade must be?

Because their project was still very 'new' back then and could not attract top names (Torres, Berbatov, Rooney, etc.) while he's a money-grabber and was easily lured - 2+2

Look at this Instagram - cars, house, lifestyle - typical riche-nouveau. Would play for Yeovil Town if they can pay him 200k/week

Sorry, we cancel penalties don't we, as they don't count... guess you'll have to knock one off Adebayor's tally for the last 25 starts then

Soldado nine goals in 16 appearances under AVB, how many were pens? Five was it? So four in 16. Against Ade's four in 25.

...what was your point again?

My point is that Soldado has only scored two goals from open play in 30 odd PL games.

Whats yours?

That Ade's record isn't better, especially when you stop ignoring cup games as if they don't exist. And doubly especially if you stop ignoring penalties, as if they don't count either - pretty sure a penalty is worth the exact same to the team as a 50 yard screamer or a 500 pass goal, why keep discounting them? Caveat, sure, but discount entirely? Too extreme.

They signed him on the back of 1 great season at Woolwich and 1 good one. Don't want to believe it?

05/06: 4 goals in 13 appearances
06/07: 8 in 29
07/08: 24 in 36
08/09: 10 in 26
09/10: 14 in 26

10/11: 1 in 8
11/12: 17 in 33
12/13: 5 in 25
13/14: 11 in 21 (only 3 in his last 10!)
14/15: 2 in 8

Proven incosistency

They are actually great stats!

Esp when you ignore things like his 11 assists in one of our seasons in the prem etc. Ade simply has more to his game and is a proven goal scorer.

Soldado is doing the right thing. Working hard etc but there is a good reason Ade is Poch's number one. Poch does not have the bias that a lot of Spurs fans have for Ade.

Far from it, his record in the premier league:

46 in 104 Woolwich
15 in 34 for City
35 in 87 for us

96 in 225 - a goal every 2.3 games

You kinda make my point exactly there. His best is undoubtedly up there in the top bracket in the league. But across those 9 seasons only 4 of those seasons are better than that average of 2.3 you mention. 1 other season goes close at 2.6. But his drop off between best and worst is insane! A goal every 5 two seasons ago, every 3.3 at the back end of last season, every 4 this season.

I am beginning to suspect some 'fans' would rather see us lose with Ade playing than see us win with Soldado scoring and risk being proven WRONG on the Internet

Ade 14 goals last season from 25 games
Soldado 6 goals last season from 28 games

Better in my eyes

Oh clearly better, when looking at the season as a whole. Soldado didn't start strongly and was dropped eventually, after four months of playing.

But over the last 9 months Adebayor has been awful, in spite of starting pretty much every single league game. When does his "was dropped eventually" come about?
