Poch has basically said that he rates CCV above Wimmer which is worrying for big Kev. Let's see if he gets a start vs Gillingham, because if not then it's unlikely we will see much of him at all without an injury or two.

So why not play Dolly yesterday then and leave Eric in the middle.

Pretty sure he was just saying that CCV is ahead because he had a pre season and Wimmer was out injured.

Yeah he referenced pre-season but he also said that CCV did very well in those games and was impressed. If Wimmer has been fit and Poch truly rated him above CCV, then he would have him on the bench in these past handful of games, no?

Would be happy to see Wimmer back in the plans though, think he is very capable.

so Pochettino being an ex defender seems to bear no relevance, and so its important for the experts to conjure up a rift or an issue to substantiate their analysis.

Maybe its because Pochettino thinks he has flaws in his game that make him a liability?

no matter - lets go for the deep conspiracy and machiavellian skulduggery.

what odds on wimmer having shagged the Pochettino family cat at the pre christmas drinks round at the family home?

Really don't understand this criticism.

Surely Poch has seen enough on the training ground to think that Verts and Toby are the best CB pair. They've now conceded two goals in five PL matches(a penalty and a direct free kick). Also there is a very talented young player who's got more potential than Wimmer who Poch seems to rate highly.

Sure enough, Wimmer did very well for 6-7 weeks last season when needed in a very strong side who hardly conceded goals with or without him. We haven't really seen enough to him to justify the questions marks around Poch's decision. Reminds me a bit of the calls for Yedlin to play a while back. It's not like we bought a world class CB. He cost 4 million and was doing ok for Cologne in the Bundesliga, not outstanding at all.

I'm happy to have Wimmer in the squad, but find it bizarre that people think he has fallen out with Poch just because CCV is now 3rd choice. Poch sees both players every day in training. We've hardly seen Wimmer kick a ball since March. Hopefully we'll see him alongside CCV tomorrow

People just love a drama!
