Where did I say that?

I have already answered the second part.

We need to be creative like we have been and we also need to stop trying to be and thinking we are something that we are not.

The UEFA Cup is a prime example of the club spurning Opportunities in front it.

You’re saying we’ll never be able to compete despite evidence to the contrary. Stop splitting hairs, that statement is equivalent to ‘giving up’. And we’re not in the Europa League we’re in the Champions League - the UEFA Cup went years ago. You’ve really got to stop living in the past.

No, no. You can only compete in the CL if you win the EL. You're not aloud to win the PL if you can't win the Kangaroo cup, has to be done in this order, just like we did in 2008......Oh, whoops.

But it’s not going to enable to us compete with the elite clubs. Our capacity to spend in terms of the market and wages will still remain well below theirs. The new stadium moves us on a par with the likes of Liverpool, that’s it.
Out of interest, who do you class as elite clubs? I'm genuinely interested to know who makes your list

Yeah we really kicked on from the 2008 LC. Bottom with 2 points from 8 games, but ‘trophies’ waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaail.

You never answer a question. Is Juve an elite club or not?

Chelsea football club owe the Russian £1b of course it fucking matters, he also no longer bank roles the club, hasn't for a number of years.

So are you aren't even bothered that we are building a new stadium? It's a waste of time? What's the point? Why did we even bother?

Barca couldn't keep hold of it's best player, so your point is completely fucked. Utd can't keep it's best player (Ronaldo) so your point is completely fucked. In fact what actual is your point?

I clearly did, were they in the list, no. Their revenue base is less than Liverpool’s and we will surpass them shortly. I’m not sure why you want me to spell things out that are self evident.

As for Chelsea well they have been in debt to a Roman since the very beginning, nothing has changed there and I have heard countless times before that this is the moment that he has detached himself from the club. As long he remains they retain the capacity of that model and wishful thinking from us isn’t going to alter that fact.

As I said the likes of Barca, Real, Bayern and United are the ‘real’ elite, their revenues dwarf the rest. Does that mean their are immune from each other no it does not because the likes United and Bayern will be susceptible to moves by Madrid. What you do not see is the regularity in movements between these clubs as you do between them are tier 2 clubs such as Liverpool, Woolwich, Dortmund and ourselves.

The point as I stated before is that the stadium is going to not going to enable to operate a payroll of the elite. It’s going to enhance our capacity but really not to any real meaning and that is blatantly obvious to anyone who follows the financial side of the game.

Exactly. Guy's talking utter defeatist nonsense. I'm done with it/him.

I like how how I’m supposedly being evasive when the list of clubs is the very list post above. Posted again.
Ok, so there are 4 elite clubs, and we’re in direct competition with all of them. Oh how I long for the 90’s. Until Jol we had never finished in the top or bottom 6 in the PL. We struggled to compete with Middlesbrough and Aston Villa. Your stance is, with respect, ridiculous.

No I’m saying that unless there is major overhaul of the structure of the game then we will never be an elite club. That applies to the overwelamong majority of clubs not just us. The wealth gap is growing rather than reducing and resources dictate long term success. And we can compete we can compete for the supposedly lesser trophies and I couldn’t less about the branding - it’s still the same fucking trophy. For instance they can call the new stadium whatever they like it is still WHL to me.

Ok. I’ll let you off with

overwelamong

Sorry to be catty, but use a spellchecker.

We’re doing our best. We’re a lot closer to being an elite club than we were 20 years ago. Try to enjoy the ride.

Therr are seven 3 of which exist in our league and the we have the likes of Woolwich and Liverpool who also generate more than us. This really isn’t difficult, sustained success in the modern game is dictated by revenue and when the 6th biggest club in the league has 3 elite clubs ahead of it then that is going to be an almighty challenge to it. That is why this passive mentality amongst our supporters infuriates me so much. We have amassed an elite side despite our limitations and yet little to no expectation is placed on them for silverware despite this being so obviously unsustainable.

Chelsea isn't wishful thinking, the Russian hasn't put his own money into the club in a while, he no longer bankrolls the club, this is significant, as is the debt that is still owed to him. He might chuck in another £2b for all I know, but the fact remains he hasn't dipped into his deep pockets for a while and passed on this I'd say it's significant, as is the fact that we are now competing with them in terms of player acquisition and finishing above them in the league.

You said we can't compete with the Elite, yet agree with me that Juve are Elite and admit that we will pass them in financial terms too, and with a wing and a prayer we might actual beat them on the pitch too, by that very definition were are competing with the elite!!

Now I'm no mug, we need to sustain our competitiveness to be called elite, by that we have to do this year on year. I'm not saying we are elite, but we are currently competing with the elite, this is a state of fact.

Now, we have done this without a new stadium, and only one year of CL money. This stadium will bring in substantial new revenue streams, which you say will not make much difference. I say that's bollocks. The stadium isn't a golden ticket but it is the one thing that will enable us to consolidate our position, just by doing that combined with the philosophy we have in place (why change something that's working) we should move up a few more rungs on the ladder.

TDLR: We are not Europes elite but we are competing with them, the money from the new stadium should help us consolidate our position, to regularly compete with them. I'm not talking about doing a Woolwich either, they haven't put in a title challenge for 15yrs, we have in the last two seasons, all be it not close enough to take it to last couple of games.
