Funnily enough i remember the swindon home game ..simply because swindons mob got in the ground early in the bottom tier of the shelf and attempted to hold it..a big half cast lad with a massive affro ( mixed race for you younguns) leading them.. only lasted a few minutes but fair play to them.
There were a load of Spurs in the Swindon end in the first game. The home fans couldn't fathom it out, what with it being all-ticket. In fact some had gone down there the week before and bought tickets. A mate of mine was amongst them. His dad was a train driver, so he got free train travel.

I was at the League game. I was probably at the cup game but all memory of it has faded!

We went in the home end, gave it a big rendition of TOT-TEN-HAM & they all backed off half way across the terrace. When they turned around and realised we amounted to about 10 feral youths that couldn't have weighed more than 9.5 stone wringing wet they reversed direction. So did we. We were over the fence and on to the pitch & being escorted into the Spurs end. Only for the Swindon's fans safety you understand :lamelashock:

Mrs. P the name wally club was just an affectionate one. I too was a member from 1972 to 1980. Still got my card with all the yearly renewals glued in the back with 'ME' for Mary Elam written on it. Happy days indeed. As for pasting links??? I wouldn't have a clue. Nutter can probably oblige as he is more tech savvy than me!
Not forgetting Molly....

Was ordinarily in the Olive Branch and colt 45 was the order of the day as opposed to a sausage roll but i vaguely remember a shop like that. Queues formed at the lane at noon in those days as everyone wanted to get in and secure a good spot. I remember one time we played Swindon in the FA cup replay in 1980 (after Spurs fans set fire to the programme hut at the county ground the previous Saturday) and the queue was enormous. I very nearly didn't get in but just managed to before kick off. Was no room on the lower shelf and the upper part was rammed too. I forced my way up to the very back by the Paxton to see Gerry Armstrong score 2 late goals to send us through. 46,000 i think it was.
Couldn't believe we won that game. We never looked liked scoring until then. They had Chris Kamara playing for them - he was one dirty batsard.

Funny thing with Spam really. They seemed to have a hold over us for some reason. No doubting they had a fearsome mob in the 70's and 80's, no point denying it. We had great results over chelsea, man utd, leeds and almost everyone and despite not getting the media attention like others we were up there firm wise. They were a yo yo club in those days too so we didn't play them that much to be fair. There were some testimonials at WHL and the youth cup game where they came over (famous photo of 6 Spurs fronting them at Stevie P's testimonial). The league cup quarter final at UP in 1980 saw a huge Tottenham mob over there, they got in the away end and it was lively to say the least. Latter years there have been 'events' like the Salmon and Ball in Bethnal Green and again in Leytonstone where we have had the upper hand but overall it would be wrong to say that they didn't come out on top in the main.
I recollect there were Spurs in the North Bank, at the Billy Bonds testimonial in '78. Mind you, Spam went in the shelf for Skip's game a few month later. Was mayhem at WHL station after the game...also went off at South Tottenham station.

Went to both Wolves games and we had a phenomenal support at Hillsbrough and a joke that they gave them the bigger end, a decision by the incompetent pigs that was to have tragic consequences later. The replay was superb, like shaker we were in Finsbury Park before lunch (didn't want to miss kick off) and any pubs that had woolwich artefacts were suitably dealt with. I remember the fans in the North Bank singing 'we feel at home in here'. Hoddle was superb that night.

I remember chatting to some old geezer in Bremen before our CL match there. He claimed boro away late 70's was fucking intensive

We played Boro at home, first game of the 79/80 season. Was the first time they'd actually brought any numbers of sorts down. After the game some of their lot got a kicking on the High Road. Then one punk Boro fan ran across Bromley Road and got knocked over by a car - wasn't too badly injured.
When we went up there for the return game in November, it was a nasty atmosphere. Someone had sprayed "Spurs die" on a wall in our end. All game you could feel the hatred in the air. We went up by coach and at Boro Bridge services "met" some Chelscum on their way to Sunderland.

There was a certain old goon of the time who was known for wrapping bricks in scarfs and throwing them from close range after enticing you in with sob stories...after that particular semi he got caught on his lonesome in the robinson crusoe opps clissold park on green lanes and got severly dealt with by one of ours..i mean severly battered

I get in that pub on occasion.I might ask the guvner to put a blue plaque up :)

Always found Wolves very dodgy, especially early 80's. Almost came unstuck there in Sept '81. Was in a transit van with Edmonton Trev and others, when around 50 of them started chasing us. We were stuck at a set of red lights fearing the worst. They were getting closer and closer, whilst we were screaming at the lights to change. Got away just in time.
Remember it well, one of my first away games.I was standing outside the away end about 1pm waiting to get in (there were about 100 of us) when a small group of Wolves emerged from the subway and charged straight at us.Roughly half of us stood our ground the others took flight, some of ours were very young-barely teenagers.Wolves just ran straight past those of us who stood and chased the kids into the nearby carpark, how very brave of them!! Fyi we won 1-0,Tony Galvin with the only goal.Sad to report that four days previously we had lost at home 4-0 to West Ham.I remember all of those days as if they were yesterday!!

Does anyone remember Leeds away in 1980? We hired a Kennings van for this. There were 5 of us - all living in Tottenham. (how times change). Got up there around 12.30 and parked up in the car park next to the ground. We had those Cockney Spurs t -shirts on at the time, so everyone knew who we were. As we walked past one of the stands , there were a load of Leeds sitting on a wall watching us. Then a group of them came over to us. One of our lot who was a right nutter said to one of them; "Look pal, if you wanna steam us, you'd better do it now" They just backed off in a state of shock. We kept on walking towards our end, and all the time we could hear footsteps behind us, increasing in volume. Then we heard a shout of; "Get the cockney bastards" The five of us turned and saw what must have been around 30 Leeds coming towards us. We stood our ground, which surprised them. Only a few of them actually wanted to fight, but we were still outnumbered. Then this car pulls up and these 4 massive geezers jump out, shouting in Northern accents. We thought that was our lot. But it turned out they were Mansfield Spurs (one of them was born in Enfield). One of them took out a baseball bat from the boot and within seconds Leeds were on the retreat. We stayed friends with them for years afterwards.
The game itself finished 0-0. At the final whistle a load of us scaled the fencing and got on to the pitch. We headed to the kop end where Leeds had been mouthing off the whole game. We got to the centre circle, before OB pushed us back. Coming out of the coach park afterwards, we were still chasing Leeds. Saw some Spurs in another van, from Basingstoke...and we kept in touch with them.
On the way back home, picked up a couple of female hitch hikers from Stockton and had a brilliant drink-up in Northampton.....where one of ours got so pissed that he jumped through a glass window.
We eventually dropped off the two girls in Finsbury Park.
All in - one of the best away days ever.

Don't talk to me about the 4-0!!! Came out after the game and was walking up Park Lane. These Spurs fans surrounded me and said "You're West ham aren't you?" of course I said I'm Tottenham. They said prove it. Didn't have any colours on. Next thing I was punched and kicked and ended up spending the night in the North Mid for observation.
The very next day I went to a tattooist just off Bounces Road and got a cockerel with THFC underneath.
Seven quid for the cockerel and a pound for the writing.

I remember they brought loads ,or it seemed it.They spilled over on to the pitch, not just chaps ,ordinary fans as well.i remember two skinhead girls being escorted to the Worcester Ave bit up by the half way line, where me and a mate were. They refused to be put in there so the OB took em back to the Park lane.
