Nobody has ever explained to me why we keep taking him after 60 minutes because he's tired. So fucking what if he's tired? He needs to be made to play through tiredness because that's the only way to build fitness. What is this fucking bullshit where he's tired so he needs to come off about? Is this some sort of Sunday league football where players come off once they're a bit knackered?

I don't blame him, i blame the coaching staff for being too soft on these players. There are many other sports much more physically demanding than football where competitors get tired and carry on. He needs to be forced to play 90 minutes and if he ends the match puking up so what? Play him again for another 90 a few days later and he'll start to get accustomed to it.
While that sounds good in theory, he will get slated for not doing enough in the last 30 minutes when he cant move. Probably better to make him just make him run more in training everyday.

TBF, whilst I afford him no quarter with regards to lacking fitness; if a manager persists with playing a gassed-out player (rather than subbing them off) to our detriment, then that's a bad call on the manager's part.

Skipp and PEH doesnt work together at all. Unless you are a fan of watching us defend for 90 minutes.

They don't work if the third player is passenger who cant pass properly and is named Alli.

But considering everything, I think lineup of -

-Son--Kane--Moura-
--Ndombele-PEH---
--------Skipp---------

Is worth a try. It could be too defensive, but it should be better than Alli instead of Ndombele.

Last year with Mourinho, especially after Ndombele had recovered from COVID and was starting regularly, his subs felt more tactical as he would be subbed off for a "defensive" player at 70-75 minutes. His fitness levels were fine in November/December/January in terms of basic metrics (speed, sprints, distance covered, etc..).

Right now it's hard to judge because before Thursday's match he hadn't played competitive minutes in 5 months. You can try and train fitness off the pitch as much as you can, but nothing can replace actual match time.

I said it earlier but one thing that Nuno is a big believer in, unlike Mourinho, is load management and sports science for fitness. All 3 subs yesterday (Ndombele, Lo Celso and Romero) felt like subs for players still getting into match form. Hell, he even took Kane off midweek to try and manage his minutes/fitness as well.

Nuno is clearly integrating Ndombele back into the squad, so I don't think 140 minutes in 3 days is that bad. But if it's still a concern in a month or two that's another thing.

You seen the first team training sessions? It's hardly the CrossFit games. Bit of stretching warm up, some drills and tactical work followed by specialist skills and a small sided game. Training is all about recovery not fitness work. Any professional player will tell you real match-fitness comes from playing matches. 90 minutes and lots of them. Otherwise you can never be properly 'match-fit'.

He needs to be told you're playing 90 minutes and get the fuck on with it. If he has to be carried off the pitch so what, chuck him in the ice-bath and a few days rest then he'll be fine.

He's 24 years old, people are treating him like some OAP who can't run around. I know people twice his age doing marathons, triathlons all while holding down full time jobs. The dude has nothing else to do apart from play football and we're constantly moaning about him not being able to play 90 minutes.

I will guarantee you if he goes to another club he'll be playing 90 minutes regularly because they won't pussy around and treat him like a fucking invalid the way we do.

Calm down, Karen

Some of them don't see it either...

Also making their list:

Rose
Dier
Reguilon
Aurier
Eriksen
Dele
Toby

Funny to notice Dybala repeatedly being cited… They reckon it’d have been "Di Maria all over again".... "One of the most over-hyped players of all time".

Quite an amusing read.... Must be gruelling being linked to everybody under the sun.

I'm getting the impression some people think 'match fitness' is about being able to finish 90 minutes rather than sharpness...which is tragic and predictable.

He should be able to run, jog and sprint more than he does for the whole 90 mins as a minimum, it's inexcusable after 2 years.

His physical conditioning has been shite for his entire Spurs career and was a constant problem in France. Work it out ffs.

And with that mentality he's never getting fit because pussies like you make excuses for treating him like a fucking baby. It's the same mentality that explains why that little wimp Winks is tolerated by so many because apparently he's proper Spurs, been here since he was 9 etc. Let's all be nice to him shall we?

He needs to man the fuck up and have the fucking shit run out of him until he drops. As do some of you clearly because i'll bet Tanguy is a lot fitter than half the wankers moaning about his fitness without a single fucking clue what to do about it.

Lol@what to do about it.

Run more, do more, try harder in training or heart and lung transplant are the options. He's supposed to be a professional footballer. You look at some of the others and what they average. Hojbjerg is a 90 minute man, someone you can rely on.

He does not have the hunger for it ironically enough. He just wants the ball and to have a few chances to show his skill, when he couldn't be arsed in the second half when his boiler was completely busted, he clearly hid from the ball, gave shite, lazy passes and his head was down when he had to put any effort in to track back.

Shame, because he's talented. We've seen it before.

Literally here for the money and his highlight reel that he can put together 30 seconds of some nice turns and a nutmeg. Bloke don’t give a fuck about Tottenham and never will. If a Premier League football player can’t be fit then there is just no point. He wasn’t in the euros squad, had a pre season so could of spent the summer getting fit as possible. He has no excuses.

Imagine him making the jump to another EPL club (see United link); knuckling down and becoming absolute mustard....

He'd be a top 3 all-time Spurs villain......If he isn't rapidly climbing the charts already.

In the summer of 2019, when this transfer was completed, The Guardian's Dave Hytner wrote what now reads like a very prescient articleabout Ndombele, which contained all sorts of red flags.

"The raw talent has always been there but the focus has not and it is remarkable to think that as recently as the 2015-16 season Ndombele was fighting for recognition in the Amiens reserve team in the Championnat National 3, which is French football’s fifth tier.

“Talk to anybody in France about Ndombele and one word recurs: nonchalance. It is not meant as a compliment and takes in the impression that he has not always been the most hard-working player. Perhaps it is because his talent is so big that everything comes easily to him.

'“He was nonchalant,” Sullivan Martinet, his youth team captain at Guingamp, told Ouest France. “He was so strong that we were expecting more from him, more consistency. He didn’t try maybe as much. He didn’t give the impression of always being 100%. With hindsight, what harmed him was his behaviour off the pitch. We were less talented but we wanted it more than him.”

Those are alarming details. They’re the kind of anecdotes which will make fans wonder just how much due diligence was done prior to this deal.

We have a chief scout Steve Hitchensupposedly renowned for his expertise on French Football.

"Jean-Michel Aulas, the president, has described Ndombele as the “new Michael Essien” while for Bruno Genesio, who was sacked as the manager in May, he “can be a new Paul Pogba”. There have also been the comparisons to N’Golo Kanté."

Essien, Kante?? Can't think of 2 players he's less like but you would expect the so-called expert on French football to see through this sort of bullshit.
