League 1 Coventry's Tom Bayliss was touted as a prospect but he also failed to make TOTY.
3 goals and 3 assists all season.
Matt Clarke (Portsmouth) and Jamal Lowe (Portsmouth) made TOTY.

this bloke suggested we sign....

along with grealish and aarons

I've seen shitloads of Sangare (couple of us have talked about him in the Players to watch and Ligue1 threads in General) Tall, gangly, quite strong, 6/8 hybrid type, can do a bit of everything, will put a foot in, good technique, can dribble, the boys got ability, but is very erratic and careless with his decision making and passing at times. He's only 21 and is improving (he starts most games for Toulouse) but definitely not ready for our level yet - still very raw and needs games.

Question: has it ever happened that a player was sold for more than his release clause because of high demand?

(Because Levy wouldn’t pay a dollar more than the clause imo)

Why would it ever happen?

A club would be wasting their money. £25,000,000 would have to be accepted so a club offering more means nothing

Wouldn’t the following deal be legal?

“Hey player A, club X wants to pay the 25m and club Y wants to pay 30m. If you go to club Y you will get half of the extra fee as a departure bonus”

But why would a club pay more, is what I am saying?

If they can get a player for £25,000,000 - why even offer £30,000,000?

So that his current club would prefer the better paying club and would put pressure on him to pick that club?

If the player is in high demand, and there are multiple offers, than perhaps having the current club on your side could be an advantage? Or would that be bribery?

Edit:spelling

It would really come down to the players personal terms in this situation. So instead of beating the big clubs with transfer funds we’d need to make his personal contract better.

I’m just not sure on him. Some things about his play are great. But he’s an Andros Townsend-level shooter. On an Ajax team where he’s the biggest attacking star that’s fine. But Kane, Son, or Dele won’t stand for him launching four shots a game midway up the new Park Lane.

Isn't that Tadic? Tearing it up with goals and assists. Maybe we should be buying him. That's the problem with the Eredivisie. Gotta be very careful who you buy
