Not fit to wear the shirt: Modric isn't Real Madrid standard says Galactico Guti

Bernabeu legend looks down his nose at the Tottenham midfielder and says his old club should go for Manchester City's Silva instead
Get Real: Guti says Modric hasn't proved he is good enough for the Bernabeu

The stinging blast for the Tottenham midfielder has come from ex-Bernabeu midfielder Guti, who helped Real win 15 trophies - including three European Cups - in his career before leaving two years ago.

Guti, who played more than 500 games for the Spanish giants, hit out: “He hasn’t even been the key man for Tottenham, I don’t think he’s done enough to play for Real Madrid.”

Now on his summer break after Euro 2012 duty with Croatia, Modric has made it clear to Spurs chiefs that he wants out and Real boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer.

But it would appear that Modric would not meet with universal approval among Bernabeu die-hards.

Guti believes the club should look to raid new Premier League champions Manchester City instead if they want a playmaker.

“I would go for David Silva in this position," he added. "I think he’s the ideal player for Real Madrid.

“He’s young, has bags of talent and potential, and has achieved great things with Manchester City and Spain.”

HAHAHA......Guti doesn't realise he was shit

The striking vacancies is a bit of a toughy

At mo we have Defoe and Citizen Kane-

Adebayor seems a default position as there really isnt anyone out there I can think of who is available and realistic let alone getting in say 2 strikers which would seem a must ( might be more if Defoe is shown the door or kicks up a stink).

The dutch boy with the funny name at Heerevan(sic)?

No one at Euros really look an undiscovered gem- maybe people who were not there- i.e Remy may look more attractive?

Steven Fletcher or even Kyle Lafferty are looking good at mo- at least as a squad player.

still next week is when it all kicks off we are told so i am sure it will become all clearer.

If we were able to get Moutinho I would squat on my desk and curl out an oily loaf. He is a brilliant player, brilliant enough for me to get sacked for gross misconduct.

What about Burak Yilmaz from Trabzonspor? We and Fulham seem to be interested.
He's 26 and a center-striker. Made 32 goals in 30 matches last season in Turkey..
I think the reported price was 5 million Euros. I'd be all over that for a probably somewhat back-up capable lone striker. That's the type of player we are going to need to bring in along with a first stringer.
