Toby not being on there is a joke,
Should definitely be in team of the season and one or two from us could have a strong case also seeing we have the best defence.

In all fairness, aside from Payet there hasn't really been any players that have stood out consistently this season aside from those from the top two.

Butland and Ozil have had good seasons but Ozil has faded of late and Butland has an unfortunate injury...he'll miss two months of the season, which is a lengthy old time (I know Payet did too but such is his form you can't ignore him).

This whole player of year thing this year has just highlighted further the reason Leicester and Spurs are up the top is that they are full of standout but interdependent performances, they are TEAMS.

Both Spurs and Leicester could put up at least 5 players between the two categories

he really is a cunt.

Payet has been the best attacking player this year. He's been amazing. I'd pay handsome, handsome money to break those wankers hearts by buying him.

The best player in the League is quite easily Toby Alderweireld though.

In the future I think they should reduce the age of eligibility for the YPOTY award to 21 and younger.

Totally agree, and I also think that a player should not be able to win it two years in a row. Else, you get a silly situation where a senior player like Kane might win it this year, over Alli who is the breakthrough young player. Reality is that Kane, as he is eligible, is clearly the best on that list, by a country mile. But he isn't really a young player now, not after winning it last season already and being in the running for the main award. He wont win the main award because Mahrez presumably will, which is arguably fair enough.

Toby has been the standout player in the Premier League this year, and his contribution to a normally suspect Spurs backline has been immense. He's so composed on the ball and his passing is sublime. I really expect Barcelona to come knocking for him.

Fucking ridiculous that Toby doesn't get a nomination. One player that plays in the defensive half nominated across both categories shows the general under appreciation of good defenders.

For me:

Player of the Year: Mahrez

Young Player of the Year: Alli

Team of the season:

De Gea
Walker - Alderweireld - Smalling - Rose
Mahrez - Ozil - Kante - Payet
Kane - Vardy
