I'm pretty sure he will kick on at Villa and given our strength in centre midfield which is obviously his preferred position it's got to be a positive move for him.

Whether he can replace Dembele in 2-3 years time is a different matter altogether. Hopefully he will add some physical strength to his game in the next couple of seasons.

In fairness to the other Villa players, who's gonna teach them how to press?

Villa got spanked 3-0 at Cardiff at the weekend, and I saw from the Sunday Times write up (that didnt mention JO at all) that he was subbed on 77. Didnt sound good.

Since then I've seen Villa fans posting wtf was Bruce doing taking him off, he was the only decent player we had etc.

They got beat at Reading and Bruce had him playing up the pitch, not CM, in a match they had almost no possession. FFS. In hindsight it might have been better to send him to one of the PL clubs that wanted him on loan earlier in the Summer.

Still, I feel a lot more positive about him now than I ever did when I saw him play for us in Cup matches. Dembele won't be playing for ever. Big Vic, if he has another season like the last one, will attract all sorts of attention from the great and the bad. It would be fab if JO could emulate what Winks looks capable of. Future Spurs MF pairing?

He's a terrific player, the best out of Winks, CCV, KWP etc when playing with these lads in the academy.

I actually think this Villa move is great for his confidence, he is the only good thing happening at Villa right now, Villa fans are holding him up as the type of player they want to see, using him as an example. This can only boost his confidence for now, nothing better than knowing the fans are behind you and appreciate not just the ability but perhaps more importantly his desire and attitude. It's one for our academy managers to monitor closely as it can go to shit quickly but Rose found himself while at Sunderland in a shit team flirting with relegation and a club swamped with fan negativity, their only shining light was Rose who they sung his name and voted player of the year.
