Harry Kane: Tottenham striker says he will "come back stronger" from ankle injury

From the Telegraph:

"But the initial swelling had gone down significantly on Wednesday morning and Kane is clinging to the hope that he will be out no longer than six weeks, which would mean he would be fit in time for the Champions League final on 1 June, if Spurs were to get there, and the Nations League."

That's quite positive if true as I seem to remember scans being delayed due to the swelling not going down.

7 weeks till the Champions League final. I'm calling it - he'll be involved, against the Dippers and he'll score the winner.

Swelling significantly down you say? He will be back for the City game next week then:kanegoal:

In my opinion he flew into Delph. Not the other way around. Why he's diving in there I don't know. Totally unnecessary, no danger at all. Already a dodgy ankle and it wasn't best advised to fly in like that.

I know son seems to step up when Harry is out but it's going to be difficult in the second leg and rest of the league campaign. We must surely have enough to beat Huddersfield and Brighton but FFS this injury does not makes things easy!

once Kane is fit he needs to have specialist check out his movement (way he stands walks runs etc) in case he can change the way he moves or have wedges in boots etc
something they should have looked at but have they ?
can't remember how each injury happened, but thought the man U (jan 19) one should not have been a problem, yes stamp on ankle would be problem, but think couple of his injuries should not have had him out for 4-6 weeks each time

The ones I can remember have all been down to impact with an opposition player. If he was going over on his ankle after being barged off the ball by the opposition player I would be more worried, than ones, where the contact is bang on the ankle.

I would've hoped he would skip the Nations League (not sorry English fans) so that he could be 100% fresh for the summer tour. The constant rushing to be fit and then straightaway playing all the matches is taking a toll

I'm not sure there was intent by Delph, just seemed a football incident. But abusing Kane, his England teammate, while he's on the ground is well out of order and I'd be dissapointed if Southgate picked him for England again.

He's what Roy Keane did when that happened to him.

I don't think Kane should do that to Delph next time they play, he should leave it to a player like Wanyama.

The thing is we played like we did as a result of not just Kane but ALL our players being aggressive. If you are passive against City (one of if not THE dirtiest teams in the league) you lose. But we won last night as a result of us playing with that attitude.

It's true, Kane did that challenge for aggression sake, it was a legal challenge but aggressive and we had to do that against City because they came with the intention of being not only aggressive but cunty, and you either match up or you lose. Kane may need to protect himself more as an exception tho.

Just give him the season off and keep him in the country for the Nations League. Allow him to get into peak physical condition ready for the start of next season.

This is controversial. But if that's the situation, I don't think we should start him in a hypothetical CL final. We'd have three weeks with no games to prepare for that match. We could get the exact eleven we wanted playing together, working on the opposition's weaknesses, preparing as best they can. I think that's better than trying to re-integrate Kane with no match sharpness in the last few days.

Good analysis
Why take a risk playing the man who is our top scorer this season, despite him missing so many games, the club top scorer for the preceding 4 seasons, the worst season of which was last bettered in 1992 by Lineker. Why take a risk on the man with the highest number of goals and assists in the PL at this point - who is lethal from the penalty spot, scores goals with both feet as well as being a great header of the ball. Why risk playing a guy who drags opposition defenders all of the park, can hit raking passes with either feet and plays a better game in midfield than the people playing there, whilst being the main striker.
Yeah - in a world where we believe we will make the CL final why the hell would we risk a loser like that in the team if he was match fit.

Good analysis

PS He is the clubs top scorer in European competitions, 4th highest scorer of all time and he's still only 25
