He was instrumental at least twice in preventing goals. He is never going to be Roberto Carlos but he was defensively vital to that win. He's also possibly the best of that back four in the air which folk want to pretend is not an issue, but it absolutely is. I have concerns regards Watkins if our Centerbacks don't watch this

He did become a solid player under Conte in a completely different way of playing the game. When Ange said his style is not for every player he could well have had Emerson in mind.
