He's not playing in his natural position that fits his strength. He's just not as creative or tidy enough to control and keep the ball in tight spaces like a typical AM would.
He has NEVER played trying to keep the ball, he’s not a possession player. Suggest don’t judge him as one, but judge him as a 1 & 2 touch player taking or playing the ball at speed, whilst braking defensive lines whilst allways under pressure of the oppo.

Without him we will be static and slow, the issues we face when teams sit deep as this negates him somewhat and as we have seen we can lose our speed of moving the ball as there is no space.

We won, and he was directly involved in our first 2 games, how that can be classed as an awful performance is a joke!
His first touch was a bit shit at times today, but in games like this the first goal is important, espically as it was against the run of play, dele put it on a plate for Kane, so to call that an awful performance? :dembelefingers:

Poor first touch and close control it was painful to watch him at times. One assist or goal here and there does not excuse him from criticism against his awful recent performances.

Listen, Lamela isn't going to replace Dele if he ever gets fit, so why not move on to another target now? You've already done Son so how about Eriksen maybe? Go on his thread and tell he can't play five yard passes or do drag backs as well as Lamela or something.

Dele is not 100% and his touch is all over the place, sometimes at crucial moments, but today he was very good.

Playing below par and still having that much impact on a game shows the quality. He's on the right track, and will be fine. Much better performance today.

As someone who hasn't been thrilled with him this season, I think you're exactly right.

He's not quite back up to speed, and because of the type of player he is, any mistakes are obvious for all the world to see. Did he lose possession during our attacks? Yes - but it was while trying to pick the lock of their defence.

He was also a bit hit-and-miss in the counter attacks (despite assisting!). As soon as his mind is clear he'll be flying.

To be honest, it's one of the sadder things about Aurier's sending off: with eleven men, we'd have been picking them apart on the counter and scored one or two more. Would have been a nice chance for Dele to impress. Oh well.

Apparently he has lodged his long associated agent impact sports management now (after reportedly being in the process of changing agent in August) and that Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola are after him.
If he has and he signs with one of them, bye bye Dele.

Impact Sports management went into receivership having lost a longstanding dispute for £2.5m with the taxman.

ALL agents are the same, they earn their money by negotiating new improved deals with clubs and transferring players. Whether it's Raiola or Mendes that are after him they are all trying to do the same thing. They happen to be two of the biggest but that doesn't stop an ambitious small agent wanting to achieve the exact same thing. If anything Raiola's market is arguable becoming one of the smallest, even the Chavs refused to deal with him this summer because of his personal demands.

Dele's only contribution is regular goals and assists

First world problems
Agree!!
If Dele's supposed 'dip in form' means he's still supplying assists for 2 of our 3 goals yesterday... then long may the 'dip' continue!!

I remember when a dip on form for a Spurs player meant not scoring for 3 months and us going on a multiple game losing streak!!!!

ffs... he's doing alright! Even SISSOKO is getting praise. The world's gawn mad I tell ye!

If Alli gets to the point where he wants out so what. He has a contract so it is in our hands within reason.

All we need to worry about as a club is our development.

Sure he is an integral player but with good scouting and a strong unit, the loss of players is mitigated.

He was better yesterday but no world beater.
