We have pretty good control on the game, dominating possession and territory whilst keeping counter attacks to a minimum so far. We do look really blunt though - again - a combination of those who play in the final third positions not being on it, plus the same few patterns are run endlessly with little variation and just aren't catching teams out anymore after 6 months plus of the other teams being able to study them.

Foundations of the play have been there, but again just not sharp enough and ultimately stressing the opposition enough thus far.

Bentancur for Sarr is an easy sub to make at HT. Sarr is on a yellow and not offering anything. Bentancur will handle their pressure.

Johnson needs to keep attacking Cash. He's beating him every time.

Villa are a seize of the mistakes team. They have no real guile or imagination. We need to be more incisive. Maddision needs to step up. Part of me thinks hes too cosy in his position. Need to wind up mcginn as well. Red card waiting to happen that bloke.
Has anyone been sent off on the opposing team since the Liverpool game? 🤣

Fuck off mcginn you weasel eyed fuck

just me…….oh well as you were

Bissouma/Cuti giving the ball away has to stop. Kulu and Johnson have been woeful. Son non existent and Maddison looks lost.

When we have the ball with the CBs we need to play a few longer balls to offer that threat.

No shots and we look more like gifting them a goal from a mistake.

No wonder every team is adopting this approach against us.

Carry on like this and it's got a defeat to a set piece or mistake written all over it.
Ultimately, what would you do in the long run? Play a counter-attacking brand of football where we invite them on and lower risk? We are dominating possession but are lacking incision in the final third. Fast forward 12-18 months and this is what happens but we're 1-0 up and have had 10+ shots by half time, are you happier? Think about the big picture. This hasn't been an enjoyable first half, but if teams are gonna set up to defend against us, this is what will happen sometimes. As we improve, this will start to work against us less and less.

Villa have been really poor. They are the home team and have offered next to nothing when the onus should surely be on them to try and take the game to us a bit. Hopefully they'll do that in the second half and leave a bit more space for us to exploit.

Slow in possession. Quick pass down the line but instead we carry it back into middle into traffic. Udogie on numerous occasions.Johnson has cash if we play quick. Powder puff upfront at the moment.
Controlled most of the game just not clinical upfront.
On ref watch, 1 accidental trip by sarr = yellow.
John mcginn hack down maddison= no yellow
Plus mcginn chasing the ref shouting after 3 or 4 decisions no yellow
