Sissoko has had a few poor displays and his sending off at Bournemouth did him no favors. But to write the guy off is totally unfair. The abuse from the Geordie Maffia and that reported transfer fee fucked him much more than his true ability.

What is his true ability? I'm genuinely interested.

Being played through the centre, which he hasn't really done for us.
Well I won't pretend I watched Newcastle last year, but he played wide right in the Euros that I watched. He got away with some rangy runs down the right wing, but this revisionist rubbish about a marauding CM is bullshit. Some people just make it up.

After the saints game thought big Vince had that role?
:sonpoint:
Sissoke is better coming on because he seems more laid back and make time go on and on and on...

Erik Lamela;
“At the beginning it was very tough, arriving in England, another style of football, another country, another language,” said Erik, currently on international duty with Argentina.

“I was injured for a long time as well. That was difficult. I played for three months but then I was injured for seven months.

“That’s football, you need to be strong and keep training."

“I feel well now. I feel good at the training ground and after training, I go home and it feels like home. That’s important. I’m always focused. I’m happy and that helps on the pitch."

“I try to do my best every game and if I can’t always play well, I try to run and run and always help the team,”

“We always need to show that we want to win.”

“I always look for the team first. If the team wins, I’m happy. If I play well but we don’t get three points, my feeling isn’t good.

“The most important thing is always to win.”

Erik Lamela;
"I would like to [sign a new deal] because I am very happy here,"

"I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent team-mates and I feel very good around them.

"It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let's hope so. At the moment I am thinking only of playing and about Saturday's game against Leicester."

Tuesday 1 November 2016
Erik Lamela missed Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League draw against Leicester City on Saturday with what was called an illness. Now, it seems that he may also miss tomorrow's Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley Stadium, but for an entirely different reason.

Mauricio Pochettino;
"Lamela had a problem with his hip during training today and we are not sure if he will be involved tomorrow."

Sunday 6 November 2016

Erik Lamela;
"Finished recovery training and just on time now to support my team come on guys !!!"

Thursday, 1 December 2016
Mauricio Pochettino;
"It is too difficult to explain because I am not a doctor but we are a bit worried about his situation."

"His evolution is not in the way we expect, it is too difficult to explain as I’m not a specialist. It is a hip problem but I cannot say when (he will be back)."

Erik Lamela leaves for treatment in Italy with former club; Roma

Mauricio Pochettino;
“in a few weeks, he will maybe available again to be involved in training sessions with the rest of the group”.

The manager, though, was adamant that Lamela would not be out for the remainder of the season.

“Of course he will play again this season, first of all, the injury was nothing. Then, it was a little bit and then, it was that minor problem still, still, still, every day. Then, he had the problem with his brother. He went to Argentina.

Then he came back, and that affected a little bit his mind and now he was recovering very slowly. And it’s for that, he is very anxious."

"It’s good for you to change and maybe you improve quick if, in your mind, you change [the scene]."

“It’s always difficult for the player who spends a lot of time [out] – more time than he believes and we believe. With the energy of the team, sometimes he’s frustrated that he cannot be involved and today it’s only him that is out of the group [with an injury].”

Jesús Pérez;
“It’s a small problem in Lamela’s hip with a tiny muscle, and the situation didn’t get fixed. It has taken him so long to get back from a simple injury. And, as the gaffer said, the environment [at Tottenham] doesn’t help him, in terms of positive energy. Now is a good moment for him to go. He asked and we believed it’s fair. We decided to send him to Rome.”

Thursday, 12 January 2017
Mauricio Pochettino;
“Erik is doing well but he’s still away,”

“We expect he’ll be there one week more to finish his recovery and then we’ll see what level he’s at when he’s here.

“It’s not important to say ‘one week, two weeks, three weeks’, it’s important he feels well and is recovering well after his injury.

“Our expectation is that when he arrives back we’ll test him and see what level he’s at, build his fitness and then see when he’ll be available to be involved again.”

Lamela took to Twitter to play down any link with a departure from White Hart Lane;

"in Roma at the moment recovering for (sic) an injury and not for any other thing that is not to do with football!"

Missing White hart Lane every minute"

Mauricio Pochettino;
"We will expect that Lamela will be here (on Friday, 27th)"

"In the moment he arrives we will assess him to see how he is. The last scan in Roma showed there was no issue, there is still pain in his hip joint but now it is important to meet us and stay here with the group and push him to keep his fitness and achieve the level of the team and be available as soon as possible."

Asked about the ongoing speculation linking Lamela to a move away from the club, Pochettino said: "There are a lot of rumours.

"He asked to go to Rome to change the place and maybe inspire him to recover quickly, you cannot control all the rumours but he is very happy.

"We keep in touch every day and maybe he was a little worried by some comments.

"He is very happy here, very focused and has suffered a lot because he is a player who likes to play football and it shows when he is on the pitch, all the rumours do not help him."

Thursday, 9 February 2017
Mauricio Pochettino;
"Erik Lamela is taking it step by step. The good thing is the injured players are all very positive, that's important,"

"With Erik Lamela we are very happy, positive and optimistic but I cannot give the date that maybe he starts to work."

"We were joking that there were some rumours about him going back to River.

"I asked him if he wanted to go back and he said 'I want to play here, I want to play in Tottenham, I want to play for this club, I want to be in England and I want to play football'.

"All negative things you can turn positive and for me that is key. It's true that we were talking this morning and he was very positive.

"Now he is very focused on his recovery and to be available as soon as possible. That is a massive improvement and a big power because you are capable of all if you believe and you are focused on recovering from your problem."

SpursOffical post this tweet;

The same day Mauricio Pochettino said;
"I don't want to lie you and give some information that after you use — you are right to use — but I can't say one two weeks three weeks one month or maybe next season, I don't know.

'It's too difficult my position because we are assessing him every day, how he is in the morning, we prepare a plan, sometimes he is involved from the beginning in the warm-up with the team, sometimes he feels pain, we change the plan.

'Now is day by day, we see. We hope he can be available again as soon as possible as that is our idea but we can't give any more information."

Totti Totti later showed the tweeted photo came from this site, dated November 2016

British Media:
"Érik Lamela’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is in doubt amid tension between the player and the club over the best way to treat his troublesome hip injury."

"He's privately told friends that he will not play again this season."

Overrated by spurs fans imo, works hard but isn't all that

I know fans of other clubs don't watch as closely as us, but the standout players (for them) are always Kane, Deli, Eriksen and Toby. It's hard to make a name for yourself if you hardly play. I hope he sorts himself out, but it's obvious he's being left behind - the Club is doing its best to protect an expensive asset, but it doesn't look good.

Lamela is overrated but Dembele isn't? Come off it.

Wheres the sudden hatred for Lamela come from?
There's no hatred for Lamela - he just doesn't feature in our plans. That's all.

You're the one who keeps saying he's played his last game for us. You can't keep up with the shit you write.

It's utter bollocks. Nobody knows how much he's suffering, or with what.

Look at him last year...what a great season he had. I'm as impatient as the next cunt but he's just turned 25. Whatever his problem, the club are managing it carefully & consequently their investment in a very valuable asset to the club.

Overrated my arsehole. A fully fit Lamela is a force in a Pochettino system. He's out for a long period, so all of a sudden he's some kind of wanker who we should get back to fitness & then fuck off out the door. Anyone who thinks like that... Have a word with yourself.

Do you believe the rumours that the club has lost patience with him?
