How can you get an X for that post?! Ridiculous
The chart shows numbers before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.

Tottenham made an operating profit of 112m in 2022 (97m in 2021).
However, after after depreciation, amortisation, player trading, interest and taxation the loss was 50m (83m in 2021). These are numbers straight from our own financial results.

Now, compare to the Chicago Bears:
The Bears — listed below Spurs — had an operating profit of $156m in 2021 and $203m in 2022.
(Atlanta has similar numbers).

Every NFL team with its controlled salary cap and draft system is more profitable than the top EPL teams (source Sportico)
There’s a reason that the Denver Broncos sells for more than 9 times its revenue and Manchester United, probably the most valuable club in the EPL, is valued at less than 6 — and it’s not because sports fans like Orange uniforms.

This might help explain the ‘X’. It probably came from someone who can read an income statement and understands how players and their fees are booked. I don’t.

Edited to add: Do I think Spurs are creative in their accounting? Probably .
However, investors know what each team is worth.

How many players do you think we will need in the summer window, if we qualify for Europe?
This is only my opinion, but as of right now, I'm very comfortable with Vic; Pedro - Cuti - Micky - Udo; Roddy- Sarr - Madders; Sonny...to start most games. I think we need a proper CF and a quality RW then our first 11 can really challenge for titles domestically & in Europe. I'd love for them two newbies to be English, which would make it 3 out of 11...better than just Mads.

In terms of backups, I'd like us to get better (and younger) than Frase to deputise for Vic. Emerson, Dragusin and Big Ben, I'm happy with...that said, if we could find an exciting HG prospect at RWB, I'd consider letting Royal go. Actually, keep Emerson and have him as our 4th or 5th CB option and still get a new RWB in. But the main priority at the back is a new LWB...I'd get rid of Reggy & Sess in a heartbeat and bring in proper comp for Udo. I'd love to bring KWP home, knowing he can play right or left, but don't think it's doable. Also like the look of that Iling Jr from Juve.

In the middle of the park, I'm losing Hojbjerg (thanks for the commitment) and GLC (Mr Unreliable). I'm keeping Biss, Skippy and Devine unless the kid goes out on one final loan. Think the Biss situation is an interesting one...for some reason I just don't see him at Spurs next season, not sure why. In which case, I'd look to bring in a CM who can win the ball back and also create, though not to Maddison's level. We know Mads is an injury risk and might still be too early for Alfie. Kulu can play centrally if need be and to he honest I think he fares better there than on the wing.

What will happen with Timo, we don't know, so might need someone to cover for Sonny...worried Solomon might not be that man after a near-full season out. Richy as a backup CF, that's plenty fine...but yeah 60 mil for a bench option. Same concern with Brennan to be fair.

So yeah in summary I'd say priorities are LWB, RW and CF. And it'd be nice to also bring in a new backup goalie and RWB. Depending on what happens with our injured players + loans (those coming back like Parrott and those going back like Werner) + outgoings, may also look to bring in a new CM and LW.

It's the price we paid that makes me wince...50 mil could have bought a lot better...maybe even 2 better...bad piece of business imo
Indeed! Still want to know what the analysis of him was to justify the price and that he’d fit. Who wanted him by all accounts it was Ange’s priority. How could a player who played mainly in a low block counter attack style play in a high press, aggressive front foot pocession based team?

Stopping the game so they can make announcements....next thing we'll be having time outs and tv adverts...it's the thin end of the wedge allowing American sports ethos encroach on our game.
It ain't about making it like the US.

They're already stopping the game. We'll just get running commentary so we - at the stadium or at home - can at least understand their reasoning.

Refs have been hiding in plain sight for so long, with nobody to give an explanation to, no accountability. This is a positive step.

VAR, if properly used, can be a great tool. They need to get rid of the stupidity around it, like that clear & obvious...way too subjective. And yeah, need to be quicker too.

It works in other sports like rugby. Football has just made a mess of it. They wanna try and correct that, let's give it a go.

Them automatic offside calls wouldn't go amiss either. Having ex-pros on VAR panels a good shout too...they can advise on tackles, whether there really was bad intention or just accidental. They know better than refs.

Thanks my man but I'm gonna go watch a little porn before bed instead

Translation: Interested enough and have enough time to mock, goad and argue on the subject of club finance; but not to inform ones-self in case of inconvenient truths.

Just like whenever the club accounts get published and posted here and those that complain the loudest won't go anywhere near them.

Never change TFC.... Never change.

86/87 after the Mexico 86 World Cup. He had a great World Cup and got to the semis with Belgium. He was very quick and could finish. I loved that team under Pleat. That was my favourite time as a Tottenham supporter.
Was one of my favorite players and I was thrilled we got him. Pity I didn't get to see him play much as they showed very few games where I lived back then and Spurs maybe a 2-3 times during an entire season.

If we paid £50M for a bang average player then serious questions would need to be asked on who is selecting these players for big money. Together with the money spent on BJ and veluz £15M we could have got a real top quality attacking player.
Come on, man, we're going to get the occasional one wrong. And we're not even sure yet we got this one wrong, to be fair. But before you judge also look at Sarr, Udogie, Vic, Maddison, Vdv, Porro and if you want to club the scouting department over the head for spending too much on BJ, then you need to give your head a wobble.

I think the direct translation is that he wanted to go and have a wank.

Here to help.

So I agree with some of that, I'd leave Emerson alone. ,I like the suggestion of Ling jr at LWB, I would also suggest Hiroki Ito he can cover LWB and CB. I agree with PEH and GLC out and I'm happy to give Divine a shot. Biss I would leave as is but his discipline needs fixing.

Timo is just free cover for Son, he has very little time to impress, he's out. Solomon, I think should go too, we need a higher level.

CF, I'm happy with Richie, if he gets service he will score and as back up Veliz. He showed what he could do against Brighton. There will be more games next season for him to play.

Agree with the suggestion of back up keeper, so that's 5 players to bring in during the summer which is a big stretch

We're not the richest club in London, we make the most revenue not the most profit.

I knew some people would weaponise that click bait statement. 🤦‍♂️

I'm pretty sure (and I'll need to check this) but we are the most profitable club in London.

OK checked. According to Forbes, we are the most profitable football in the world over the last three years. Third most profitable sports business after the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
