No reason why we shouldn’t

Chavs are shite

I think we approach that game like City.

Chelsea will absolutely dominate us in possession. We need to soak it up, like City and make sure we take the chance when it comes. Atmosphere needs to be best of the season too.

We haven't beaten Chelsea at home in 5 years. That needs to change.

Absolutely sick of the limp dick performances against this vile club..... It must change!

It appears that the players have less inhibition when Conte is not stood on the touchline shouting incessantly at them about where they should pass or run. We also seem to play much more on the front foot, not waiting to concede befreo we commit players to attack. I have no doubts Conte is still the brain behind the system and the approach, and is selecting the side, but it will be intersting if he misses another 3 or 4 weeks how we get on without him present.

It's most lokely coincidence we win when he takes charge. Nothing much to be read into it

Good for him and us though.

Coincidence? I doubt it.

Look at this quote by Stellini after yesterdays game -
"The risk is you lose a player for a long time and we don't want to do it. We want to use Sonny in the right way. Now we had Richarlison back 100 per cent fit and we pick the team to play this type of game. The plan was clear. We had to fight in the first half and when they stretch the team and we have more space, we can use players like Sonny and players to attack the space."

This is 100% accurate and to the point.
Many here (including myself) have been repeating this in the same forum for months. Richie is pressing player. He can work hard, tire out and annoy opposition players. And Son is fast player to stretch the game and use his pace . So Richie starting to bring on Son against tired legs is a good combo.

Yet Conte never did that.

Stellini did, and fair play to him. It worked out well.

P.S-
Under Conte -
vs West Ham 1:1
vs City 2:4

Under Stellini -
vs West Ham 2:0
vs City 1:0

3:5 and 1 point vs 3:0 and 6 points. Pretty stark.
I am not religious but I hope Stellini stays on the role for until end of the season.

Stellini also said in the press conferences that Conte is picking the teams after hearing from them about training, then texting them about subs.

That is Conte's coaching team that is strong enough to be functional without him. May not fit an agenda but objectively reflects well on his ability to lead a coaching team and plan for testing situations.

Be honest, if we lose the WHAM game, you would be blaming Conte not Stellini?

I said to my brother on the way up to the game Conte was in a lose lose situation yesterday.

Win and Stellini gets the credit.

Lose and it's Conte out.

Yet another jaunty layer to our season....

It's such fun being Spurs, isn't it. :)

For some time we have been questioning the game of 2 halves performances. I think it's the first time I've heard the coach admit it was deliberate to soak up and keep it tight in the first half. I guess its not a tactic you want your opponent to predict will happen.

Not quite what he said though......

What he described is simply being prepared for what you think your oppo will bring. Opting to play a comabtive player against a physical team isn't deliberately soaking up pressure.

We certainly didn't sit back.

He's actually covered Conte 6 times over 2 jobs and won all 6.

Makes you wonder, is he the real brains of the operation?

well he didnt stay at Juve long because he got done for match fixing, he wasnt Conte's assistant at chelsea when conte won 2 trophies with them lot, he also tried his hand at being the head coach and he didnt last long before being sacked and returning to conte at inter so i doubt it.

For a long time now I have realised that a purple patch in a game can kill it off. People want 90 minutes of high tempo action....its not necessary. Or attacking in waves instead of one dimensional pressing. I will have to listen again but I thought Stellini mentioned bringing Son on to exploit tired legs and space behind. Flogging Son for the first 45 minutes then expecting him to be like lightning in the last third of the game is possibly expecting too much. ?

Not at all and he also said that they needed to dominate the ball and play the way we did in the first half in order to create the spaces in the second half.

Wasn't pretty first half but it was intense in terms of running and playing the game where they didn't want to.

Also, west Ham where awful. every plan looks good when you have a comfortable 2-0 win
