My lineup for Wednesday:

[formation=442, Vorm, Tripp/KWP, Toby, Foyth, Rose, Sissoko, Dier, Nkoudou, Lamela/Alli, Son, Llorente][/formation]

Have Son and Llorente operating like Kane and Fernando at the Real game. Doesn't have to be 4-4-2 but those are the guys I'd line up spontaneously

---------------------------Vorm----------------------------
------Alderweireld---Sanchez---Foyth------------
KWP-------------------------------------------------Rose
--------------------Dier----------Sissoko----------------
Lamela-----------------------------------------------Son
---------------------------Llorente------------------------

Agree. Think back three years ago. We were drawn with the scum in the same cup. We all knew we had the team to take them to the cleaners. Then the horror of that selection, mobile phones all pinging alerts symaltaniously whilst we waited in anticipation outside the Bell & Hare for the arrival of the vermin. In one ping of a mobile phone the utter dejection slowing turning to anger at a missed chance of beating them. Vindication being earned by some the following weekend by smashing Citeh, then fast forward to the end of the season and the majority of fans educated for the first time in their lifetime what it is to be a title contender and where our priority and focus should be, very much me included.

I've been brought up as having our trophy's won column ticked as my comfort blanket, shite in the League, that also translates into your not a very good team full stop, but at least we've got 8 FA Cups and a weekend away bag of others to console ourselves in a dick measuring contest.

Great teams win Leagues, great teams challenge for league titles. Other stuff (trophy's) will also come off the back off our focus to win a league, it's a natural by-product.

We are going to rotate heavily for this game, just look at our fixtures around it. Meanwhile, Bilic knows he can keep his job, yet again, by beating Spurs if he plays his best team. There fans will once again ignore the fact they are yet again in a relegation scrap so long as they beat Spurs. Even their owners, the kings and Queen of marketing spin know that Bilic should focus on the league because of the financial rewards, will pressure him to field their best side because they are under the cosh with their fans too. A win against us will also give them some breathing space and an open top bus parade photo opportunity at a knock down price of £5.99 whilst stocks last. (They danced in the streets for months after beating Chelsea's kids last year).

Good points, especially about the scum League Cup game a few years ago. I was ready for Poch's head until he beat City 4-1 against all odds even with academy players in the team. He really put his balls on the line with those decisions and as a fan it was and still is a bit hard to understand. That said, beating City 4-1 at WHL was the most magical Poch game for me as I doubted us being capable of improving so much back then and was ready for mid-table mediocrity and another sacking. But he showed by rotating for a Cup game, no matter who it was, he would improve us in the League even when it seemed impossible and so I respected that and gave him a lot of time after that moment. What he did in Madrid eclipsed that moment.

To put it into perspective, now we are doing the best we ever have done in not only the Premier League but the Champions League as well, competing on both fronts, which has never been done before in my lifetime. Whatever side Poch goes with mid-week and whatever happens I am completely fine with it as I trust it is the best decision even if I wouldn't have made it as a fan. Still looking forward to the game, but not as overly concerned about it as I would normally be without Poch as manager. Call it payback if you will. He made very bold statements at the start of the season. He said he was going for the PL and CL. He has already improved significantly in those areas. Put his neck on the line a lot and is backing it up with consistently improving results in those areas beyond all expectation. Can't ask for more than that as a fan.

This game will really be the highlight of their season, they're gonna be way more up for it than us but we can't get sucked into taking it too seriously. Man United have a day more rest than us as it is. So play the kids and the players that need some game time. If they win, they win, but at least they won't have won at the Lane.

It is times like this that some of us on the forum wanted more players in the summer which we got as last year when players were rested the players coming in were not up to it. This year it is different we have enough players to allow players to be rested and still play a strong team. I see this match both LB's playing as they are rested. Doubt Lamela is ready to start.
Vorm
Alderweireld Foyth Davies
Trippier Sissoko Dier Rose
Son Dele
Llorente
7 players who did not start today. Trippier can be rotated against MU. Dele has missed matches due to suspension and Son has not played every match.
Just leaves Toby as a player that has little rest but I just cannot see we can play without him and win.

Lamela to start, or the bench? Hmm..

I cannot see Winks starting against West Ham, he has played the last 3 games.
Not sure if responding to me but ya I tweaked my lineup a bit. I think Dele may get the start since he hasn’t played any CL football yet, but then it will be 4 games in 10 days for him assuming he starts against United and Real.

Poch may just play more kids to go with the guys coming off injury (Rose/Lamela). No chance Dembele is wasted on Wednesday. Or he might just play Sanchez in a back 3 and sit Dele.

Jesus Perez had said he cannot train as is hip is bothering him, does not look good for him or us.

May not be back until Woolwich after the break then.
Let him get himself right & give him time.
I will wank myself silly if he’s back for the nomads.
A fully fit Moose against that lot will be a sight for sore eyes. He will run rings round them.
4 weeks more to rest up. Wrap him in cotton wool. And then unleash him nice & fresh against Xhaka & co.
:ledleylick:

Play the kids. I really don't mind us throwing this one. The League Cup is a gong show and we don't need it interfering with our goals.
BUT CLEARLY POCH IS A FAILURE IF HE DOESNT WIN THE ASIAN ENERGY DRINK CUP!!!!!!!!

United won it last year so it’s important now, right up until the point that anyone but them win it.

It’s a trophy.
It may be at the bottom of our list of priorities right now (& rightly so) but we will go into that game looking to win it. And so we should.
Our second string will do for them. The club is riding on the crest of a wave & I see no reason to dent that by not thrashing these whelk munching ne’er do Wells from Stratford.
COYS.
