Ok, I did some noodling around with some stats to make life easier when we argue about the various dreamboats we wish to sign this summer. I set some basic criteria (24 or younger, AM/FW) and here's some of what I found. I've done the stats as non-penalty goals per 90 minutes played (NPGp90), scoring contribution (NPGp90+assists) and scoring contribution+ (NPGp90+assists+key passes):

Name-------------------NPGp90---SC--SC+
Hakim Ziyech--------------0.46--0.76--3.63
Sofiane Boufal-------------0.35--0.50--3.27
Vincent Janssen-----------0.72--0.85--2.75

Nice post, thanks. Where do some of our forwards fit on here?

So, to answer:

Spur------------------------NPGp90------SC-----SC+
Harry Kane---------------------0.53----0.56-----1.74
Dele Alli-------------------------0.36----0.69-----2.68
Nacer Chadli-------------------0.29----0.48-----2.78
Ryan Mason-------------------0.11----0.11------1.24
Christian Eriksen-------------0.19----0.61------4.34
Erik Lamela--------------------0.19----0.53------3.36
Heung-Min Son---------------0.33----0.41------1.87

Bonus feature - Alex Pritchard and Clinton N'jie's 2014-15 seasons:
Alex Pritchard------------------0.28----0.44-----3.12
Clinton N'Jie--------------------0.41----0.83-----2.60

Editorial:
Kane's NPGp90 looks pedestrian, but it's worth keeping in mind that he also had a middle of the road 12.6% conversion %. He takes a shit ton of shots (159) from good locations (led all Premier League strikers in xG according to Paul Riley) and does not stop. Based on 2 seasons of evidence, he can do this all day long. And God help the Premier League if he ever goes on a conversion % hot streak like Lacazette (25%) or Luis Suarez (27%) for a year.

Eriksen took 100 shots but only got 6 goals. His conversion rate of 6% explains the low return. But there is a good reason for this. His shot locations are mostly from distance. He's being asked to do much harder things than a striker. His awesomeness is reflected in his SC+ of 4.34 per 90, which is reflects his incredible ability to create shooting opportunities for teammates.

Interesting to see that of the potential new acquisitions, only two are above our third best player in SC+, and another three only marginally above our fourth best in SC+.

It's going to be hard to find upgrades, especially considering at least three of our top four on SC+ also does a lot in terms of running, pressing and defending.

Could you do Chadli's numbers for 14/15? His numbers for 15/16 is quite impressive, particularly considering he never seemed to hit a decent patch of form.

Thanks for this, interesting stuff

Yup. The reality is that our front four are genuine Champion's League-quality stars, and we need to start thinking of them like that.

Would be good to see which league all these players are in next to this. Obviously to properly account for strength of opposition would be subjective and a bit of a mathematical nightmare, but the league they play in would give a rough indication
