Having even 2000 fans creates an advantage for the home team , doesn’t seem right that some clubs can get that advantage and the rest can’t .

On a purely selfish level, our away stats are currently slightly superior to our home stats, so I reckon others have more to worry about than we do.

As for the Scouse Chicken Dippers, they've won all 6 of their home games, so it seems their fans make absolutely no difference at all. Having said that, it would be magnificent to be the first team to stuff it up them on their home turf IN FRONT OF THE WEEPING MOB.

so, I suppose if you have no fans allowed in the ground in Tier 3, does Tier 4 means no players allowed in the ground?
It brings forward the time when fans get back in as whilst the shops etc were open the infection rate was never going to get down to get back to Tier 2 but now it could happen quicker.

The Trust.
In our second video, our hosts talk to fellow THST Board member Kevin Fitzgerald about fans returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kevin was the only THST board member who was successful with his application and was there to see our 2-0 victory in the North London Derby.

I'd be surprised if anyone is allowed fans in the coming weeks. The government are puppets having their strings pulled by the likes of SAGE. SAGE who have no regard to the economy or people's lives outside of Covid. SAGE who almost certainly are giving advice based on worst case scenarios rather than most likely outcomes based off proven facts.

Anyway, after that rant, my point is.... we're not going back to the lane this season. Not until the majority of the population have had a vaccine.

Do you not watch the news or something? There's a fucking mutant, hyper infective strain of Covid ripping through London and the South East, hospitals are filling up and there'll be four figure daily deaths again imminently. The PL will do very well to keep the season going. It would be insanity to allow fans back at the moment. March at the earliest before that happens.

I don't know why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to have any fans in the stadiums, especially in London where public transport is the sole mode of transport.

As for watching the news, I dip in and out. In April, we were led to belive there would going to be hundreds of thousands of people dying and in hospital. They fitted out the Excel Centre telling is it could take x-thousand people.
It never saw a single patient.
News outlets ONLY care about clicks, views and sales. They care very little about high quality journalism.

The PL probably should cancel or postpone the league. They won't though as there's too much money at risk, they'd have to pay back Sky, BT, NBC, beIN, etc, etc, etc.

I think if (when?) Boris increases the strictness of the tiers, he might make that decision for them though.

Interesting.

Plan to bring back fans for FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals

Martyn Ziegler, Chief Sports Reporter
Monday February 15 2021, 5.00pm, The Times
The FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals are being lined up as test events for the return of supporters before major sporting events this summer.

It is understood that the government is keen to explore ways of having socially distanced spectators for the big events, starting with the European Championship tournament and including Wimbledon tennis, the British Grand Prix, the Open and possibly some top race meetings and England cricket matches.

The confidence over spectators returning follows the successful launch of the vaccination programme in which 15 million people have received their first jabs against Covid-19.

Wembley is staging seven Euro 2020 matches and will need at least two test events if there are to be any fans there for the games, and the FA is planning on the basis of the stadium being 30-35 per cent full during the tournament but without supporters travelling from abroad.

The cup finals are being viewed as good opportunities for pilot events at the 90,000-seat stadium but with a smaller number of fans attending.

Once the government’s roadmap out of lockdown is published next week the Sports Technology and Innovations Group (Stig), which was set up in September, is expected to be asked to look at the best ways of getting spectators into venues, after the end of the domestic football season.

The group will be asked to come up with plans for minimal or no queueing. Spectators, potentially, will be requested to use the almost-instant lateral flow tests and wait for a negative result before entering stadiums.

Although the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) remains cautious. there is a strong desire at No 10 for major summer sporting events to be prioritised for the return of fans, at least in some numbers.

The Carabao Cup final is taking place on April 25 and it has already been pencilled in as the first test event for the new Wembley steps that have replaced the raised pedestrian walkway. The FA Cup final is scheduled to take place three weekends later, on May 15. There are other possibilities for test events, including the EFL’s play-off finals.

A source involved in the talks said that the idea was to identify events that will be targets for the return of spectators and then work backwards. “There are things to work on, such as avoiding any queues, sending tickets out in advance and lateral flow testing and, of course, finding out the numbers that can attend, but there is confidence it can be achieved,” the source said.

Another source indicated that the return of fans for Premier League and EFL matches had been all but ruled out for the rest of the season, although there could be a few games used as pilot events. The priority, according to the source, is to have Wembley prepared for Euro 2020.

The source added that the use of Covid vaccination passports was less likely as it could prove controversial, by appearing to discriminate against those that lacked them.

A British Horseracing Authority statement read: “British racing continues to liaise with government regarding how we believe the return of spectators can be managed safely, as it was at events in December.

“Their return is dependent on the attendance of spectators at sporting events being permitted under the UK government roadmap for reopening. Any racecourse proposals as to how they will manage the admission of spectators would need to be in line with DCMS criteria.”

Great news!

Up to 10,000 supporters will be allowed into stadiums from Monday, 17 May provided the government is able to stick to its scheduled roadmap.
To maintain a competitive balance and ensure all 20 clubs get to play a home game with fans present, a round of fixtures will be shifted to 18-20 May.
Final round of games on 23rd May.

There's about 50,000 Spurs fans would disagree!!
But hey, if it is 10,000, we'll take what we can get...

ST/Points/Closed shop etc.... the rest of us probably won't need to bother with a return to the Wheel of Doom for the time being!
