Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I despise West Ham more than Woolwich and almost as much as Cheatski. I blame the 90's for that hate. Sugar made us almost their rivals !

However, The quality of West Ham's PR is amazing , Look at those great marketing pictures of the Olympic Stadium with all that Claret and Blue and statutes of Spurs wannabe Bobby Moore and you would think wow what a result.

However, those knuckle draggers need to wake up and realise what is going. The Stadium is leased to them only 25 match days per year. When not in use by West Ham the "branding" is not allowed. It's not their "home"

There is no agreement for statues of Bobby Moore / Bobby Barnes or Phil Parkes allowed in or around the stadium.

All that Claret and blue must be taken away on non match days. there is no museum allowed to showcase the times when they came 5th and went up via playoffs.

Nor is anyone being honest about the retractable seats nonsense, the other views being a joke due to the athletic legacy bullshit ( look at the Barcelona Olympic Stadium debacle for how bad these stadiums are for football ) + there are some great aerial shots showing that The Boylen Ground completely fits inside the track area of the Olympic Stadium.

Oh and the 54000 revenue is 50000 maximum paying customers as Newham have 4000 "free" tickets for Newham council staff guaranteed each and every match day for years to come - good luck with high pricing on tickets when a fair chunk are free !

And the remaining revenue is not 100% West Ham's as they have to share a % of that with it Newham also. Nor can they get 100% of the naming rights nor can they ( I think ) collect all the corporate revenue, they might get 100% of the pork scratching sales. So might be able to afford a % of Fat Sam's compensation payment.

The Upton Park sale is less than expected & given they must be debt free to move ( without penalty ) they are not getting near the top table anytime soon as the revenue stream is so low they can't buy their way anywhere.

West Ham have been asset striped, but have managed to get their idiot fans to smile about it, better than Turkey's voting for Christmas. ENIC saw this bollocks and went with a proposal that did not cover over the cracks. Those with less honesty sold out their club and fans.

But let's not let facts get in the way of a good story "plucky old West Ham......potential Champions of Europe when the Middle East save the day". They are move Coventry City than Manchester City and although it's frightening to think of them doing "reasonable well" I think we can sleep easy for a few generations yet.

Shame they did not go bust under the Icelanders :-(

I didn't realise they had to pay a proportion of gate receipts to Newham - any idea what the % is?

Not sure on %. But it was a joint bid between West Spam and Newham Council. But the sports press reported it as a West Spam bid and therefore a West Spam win. In context of a joint bid you can better understand why that toss pot club got a leg up.

From their own propaganda pages is this gem ;

6. We will make a multi-million pound investment to make it suitable for the different uses we propose but we are adamant it will be free of ongoing public subsidy and gate receipts will be shared with Newham Council, ensuring financial benefits are passed on to the local community. The area will also benefit in many other ways such as employment, health and education.

+ it looks like a commitment to 100,000 free tickets per season for Newham's pick of attendees, works out around 4700 free tickets each & every home match. That won't help drive up ticket prices to a level significantly beyond their current level.

Also, the club will have no assets to borrow against.

Gold and Sullivan have 60% of West Ham @ a cost of £58 million. By the time they flog it off they will, whoever buys them, substantially increase that investment. Good business for them & Maybe they will build a museum and bus in 5000 kids per game from "affluent Essex" as Brady once claimed, or maybe the Baroness and the Porn merchants are lying.....

Let's not worry about what's happening /what might happen at other clubs. Speculation around the game will always be around, its what keeps the media in a job, so until anything has been confirmed to be true, take it all with a pinch of salt. Grey hair comes to you quickly enough without fretting over something that may never happen.

Sounds like they will be in a worse position than now - no assets and any increase in potential income is limited.

54,000
less 4,700 free tickets
less the % pay away to Newham
less rent of £2.5m per year
with no assets, as you say.

They will fill the stadium, they are a London club with a large local fanbase, but the atmosphere in such a large stadium (by circumference) will be shit.

Even teams like Roma and Lazio struggle to fill their Olympic stadiums with noise, and they're a bunch of mentalists.

When I went to the Olympic stadium for the Paralympics I was definitely impressed with it's size (and also the fact it's walking distance from my flat) but it felt like a temporary structure that would need to be dismantled within twenty years. All the turnstiles, food places, bars and toilets are outside the ground, so if you're in the top tier you have to walk for ages to go to the loo. Is any of this being addressed? Despite how close it is to where I live I would have absolutely hated Spurs to move there, even if they had knocked it down and built a stadium more suitable for football. Keep Spurs in Tottenham, innit.

I'm a bit gutted West Ham are doing so well this season. The dream was for them to move in to their fancy new ground while in the Championship.

Sounds very much like the trap most Italian clubs are in. Not owning the stadium, and not being able to get full revenue from the gate. They're essentially knee-capping themselves in perpetuity.

Pinch of salt:

http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/why-tottenham-pulled-out-of-adrien-rabiot-deal/

GFFN can confirm exclusive reports from Le 10 Sport that Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of trying to sign PSG central midfielder Adrien Rabiot on loan.

According to the weekly publication, Tottenham did not want to hinder their relationship with PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi by activating a clause in Adrien Rabiot’s contract which allows the player to leave PSG on loan until the end of the season automatically.

Neither Nasser Al Khelaifi nor Laurent Blanc want the player to take up this option and with the move therefore not sanctioned by the Ligue 1 champions, Tottenham did not want to harm their relationship with Les Parisiens.

In the meantime, an unknown German club and Spanish side Sevilla have made enquiries in recent days. The player in the meantime is still very interested in finding a club on loan where he is guaranteed continuous first team football and has not excluded a move from the capital.

This is incidentally why Bordeaux’s move for Clément Chantôme is being held up. PSG cannot prevent Adrien Rabiot from leaving the club and do not want to lose 2 central midfielders this window. Until they have assurances from the Rabiot camp, they cannot let Chantôme go. In the meantime, Chantôme has thrashed out terms over a provisional 3.5 year contract with Willy Sagnol’s side.

I think what it means is that we'd like to do business with them in the future without bad blood. I don't think it's referring to a Real style "special relationship".
i know but
"According to the weekly publication, Tottenham did not want to hinder their relationship with PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi"

Just seems like such an odd, out of the blue thing to say.
