Actually, based on Friedel's earlier comments I think he would understand if he was benched later in the tournament.

This. I understand that many want us to rest key players like Jan, Dembele and Vertonghen. We can't rest too many though, we lost 3-1 to Leeds when we tried it last time! And remember what AVB has said.
There will be changes I'm sure, but apart from Caulker/Vertonghen/Dawson, Lloris/Friedel, Holtby coming and possibly Defoe for Ade there won't be many.

Get that goal and rest players the last 30mins if we're in control!
