I like the guy but our style of football is fucking dull now.

Teams would have bitten our arm off for AzzaBlud in recent times (and obviously did for Bale) and we spent a shitload of money on Lamela to replace him. Add the emergence of Townsend and we have some real ability mixed with pace on the flanks... But they either 1) beat their man and play it sideways to our number 10 or number 9 or 2) beat their man and stick it in the box to Soldado on his own. Usually against at least 4 men.

Every time we break we know 1) or 2) will happen. And it didnt use to be like that. The most dangerous a team can ever be (IMO) is on the counter, and we have a side set up to do it... Yet we dont move with pace or support Soldado in the box at any point

or 3) hit the first defender or 4) blast it out for a throw in or 5) shoot from 25-30+ yards out hitting a defender our sailing well off target

I didnt even want to go go there as they are all ultimately depressing but also true.. And also the result of playing in front of a back rather than running behind them, generally

I don't truly agree with all this "modern football" hype. Yes football has changed a lot over the last 25 years, yes players are mostly mercenaries, yes fans want instant gratification... and you can go on and on about all the different aspects of why football has become an over complicated business, a million miles apart from what it should be. But Ferguson adapted to all of that over his tenure. The reason he is the greatest football manager of all time, a god among football managers let alone lowly men, is because he was allowed to stay on as manager through all the highs and lows. Stability plain and simple. Yes you can buy trophies and leagues and the worlds supposed best players and managers, but 9 times out of 10 its to the detriment of the club in the long run. Could AVB be the man? who knows...

Ferguson did his hard yards before the game changed, and he had enough kudos in the bank that when it did change he was the exception.
