Kudos is as important as titles, and although we didn't win it this year, every fan of every club and every pundit knows deep down that we're a darn good team, and ourselves and Chelsea are a class above everyone else. And they'll know that if it weren't for the extra European games and injuries the title could have gone either way.

That one bad spell around the time of Kane's first injury was ultimately the difference.

Such an enjoyable season!

I don't think many would have seen us convincingly getting top 4 with the money spent elsewhere but Poch has shown what a truly world class manager he is.

If we keep the majority of these group together again next season you'd have to feel that a trophy is on the cards.

I genuinely wouldn't trade places with any other team at this precise moment in time. COYS!

I don't know what next season will bring, but what a finale to the season, what a season, what a team.

You could sum it up at Swansea away, 1 down in the dying minutes and we won by two goals, it's not the fact we can score freely, there is a monumental determination in this Spurs team, there is no soft centre, no let up, no loss of quality and depth to deal with injuries, this is an excellent vintage of a team and whatever arguments about silverware or glory come up, the sheer work rate, creativity, control and ruthlessness is undeniable.

One major enhancement that has to be made this summer is Eriksen needs more work done on his hair, the weave needs strengthening, you could definitely see more baldness in the last 6 or 7 games

Agreed, the best most fantastic season in my lifetime, all 53 years of it. The best bit for me is the feeling that it is a work in progress and that the team will continue to grow and improve even more next season. I'm confident we will prosper at Wembley and not saying we will win the league but expect us to be in the mix, its gone be a nice but long summer and roll on next season COYS

Most balanced pieces on our season from football365 Season's Winners and Losers...it ignored the fact that Pochettino has stated he's staying and could have mentioned Davies and Trippier though.

Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham
I know the response before I even type the words: But Tottenham haven’t won anything.

That is true, of course. Tottenham ultimately failed to win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League and EFL Cup, in order of how serious Mauricio Pochettino took each competition. These are facts.

Yet to describe this season as anything other than an overwhelming success is foolish, one-eyed or both. Tottenham started this season as sixth favourites for the Premier League title, expected by bookmakers to miss out on a place in the Champions League. The summer transfer window was intensely disappointing, with the signing of Moussa Sissoko for £30m doing more harm than good.

That Sissoko signing was notable: It took Tottenham into positive net spend over the last five years. Of the 20 clubs in the Premier League this season, only Swansea City have a lower net spend over that period. For all the jokes about using that as a measure of success, it indicates the remarkable job Pochettino has done on a budget and with a small first-team squad. They also still have the lowest average age of any first-team squad in the division.

Pochettino did not just upset the odds to engineer a top-four bid, but ran Chelsea closer to the title than any other club. Tottenham recorded the second highest ever points total by a club that has not won the Premier League title in that season.

Most enjoyably for neutrals, Tottenham are the most exciting team in the division to watch when in form. Their goal difference for the last two seasons, compared with their peers, is mightily impressive:

Tottenham – 94
Manchester City – 71
Woolwich – 67
Chelsea – 58
Liverpool – 49
Manchester United – 39

Spurs have the best full-backs in the league (for now, and when fit), the best central defensive partnership, one of the best goalkeepers, the best young player in Dele Alli and the best striker in Harry Kane. Those players who fill the gaps (Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son) aren’t bad either.

Tottenham’s performances against Manchester City in October, Swansea in December, Chelsea in January and Leicester City in May also account for four of the ten best team displays of the season, indication that when this team clicks they are a joy to behold. By any measure, Tottenham have over-achieved.

That does not mean that this Tottenham project is complete or that potential has been realised, but it is worth praising during the journey as well as congratulating them if they reach the ambitious destination. A traditional Premier League also-ran has become a key player. Further squad investment is needed, but keeping their manager will again be the signing of the Spurs summer.

Harry Kane
– Kane has become the fourth player to win consecutive outright Premier League Golden Boots after Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie. He is 23.

– Kane became the fourth player to score 20 or more goals in three successive seasons after Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Ruud van Nistelrooy, although Sergio Aguero matched that on Sunday. He is 23.

– Only four players have now scored more Premier League hat-tricks than Harry Kane (Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Thierry Henry). He is 23.

I didn’t sign up to the Harry Kane ‘two-season wonder’ tag just as I didn’t sign up to the ‘one-season wonder’ tag, but that does not mean that Kane’s achievement this season is not surprising. Despite his rise over the last three years, 2016/17 somehow ended as Kane’s best season yet. His record of 29 goals in 30 league matches this season is nothing short of extraordinary.

Tottenham’s defence
Goals conceded since beginning of last season (teams must have played in both seasons):

Tottenham – 60
Manchester United – 64
Woolwich – 79
Manchester City – 80
Chelsea – 85
Southampton – 88
Liverpool – 92

Given that Manchester United, Tottenham’s only close challenger, sacrificed attacking intent for defensive stability, that is a wonderful effort. Toby, Jan, Danny, Kyle, Eric and Hugo; well played.

Leicester City FC pitch size 105m x 68m
Hull City FC pitch size 105m x 68m
Wembley pitch size (next season) 105m x 68m

Just saying......

The bigger pitch is better for us against a team that tries to defend, which is basically 9 out of 10 teams we face. That's why we had so much space now that our movement is so good. I don't see the pitch size being a disadvantage to us next season, but rather, an advantage. Having said that, the ground being Wembley will make it a day out for most teams and that will hurt us because they will try that bit harder. I hope we get a good fixture list for the start of the season as I expect we will settle after half a dozen games and adapt to it all. Then we can start destroying teams like this.

The best compliment I can give this team is that I expect to blow teams away now. Today did not come as a surprise at all. When it was 3-1 and 4-1 I wanted more to really be satisfied and so did the team.

What a team we have

Harry Kane scored 29 goals in 30 games and won the Golden Boot for the second successive season....our Harry Kane...I keep worrying that I'm going to wake up to discover it's all just been a dream...

Ok We didn't win anything but what an absolute fantastic season that was. Never have I seen such fantastic football.
We ended up with a GD of +60 and scored 86 goals. Let that sink in.
Harry Kane scored 29 goals in as many games, Son scored 21 and Dele 22. Has that ever happened before?
Only the 3rd team to score 7 away goals, the list goes on and on. We broke so many records.
This is definitely the best Spurs team i've seen in my lifetime and I just hope we can keep it together as who knows what they are capable of.
All that is left is to say a massive thank you to Mauricio Pochettino and his young side as you have given us some fantastic entertainment this season..
Truly amazing run, shame we didn't win anything as I think our form would have been enough for a league title in almost any season.
Onward and upward...3rd last year, 2nd this time around, we all know what should come next!

WE WON... RESPECT!
I know they don't give prizes out for it... but the whole mindset of Tottenham is changing, we're developing a winning mentality... and (to a lesser extent of importance) the opinion towards Tottenham is changing too.

I know the 'Media Bias' thread will run and run, but you only have to take one look at the back page of our old friends at The Sun today to know the balance is shifting... they're really laying into Terry & Wenger...
Whilst we've done nothing but set records and impress everyone all season... even the 'bottlers' attempt was quashed by the fact Chelsea won more games than they needed to... we only finished 3 off what our total for the run-in could've been... we'd still have been 4 points short! Plus the fact that not only did we not feel sorry for ourselves at the tail end of the season (like last year) and go on a dip in form, after the Title was gone, we actually played even more impressively, and set a couple more records for good measure!
Winning 6-1 and 7-1 in consecutive away games has not only never been done by us before, but i'd struggle to think of a club in the WORLD who has ever done that!

A truly Incredible end to an incredible season...

If we could just put it all together in one season...
Combined table for last 2 years.

I've highlighted each column where we top the stats.

Only one question remains...can Kane be the first player to score 19 home hat tricks in one season?
:kanegoal:
You're forgetting the CL Group stages, and any potential 'Home' Cup Draws!!
That's gotta bring it up to at least the chance of getting 22/23 HT's at home...?!

...ahhh, but the downside, is that ArseAnal achive CL football for the 20/21st consecutive season...
"iss 'appenin' agaaaaaaaaai......."
NO IT ISN'T! NOW FUCK OFF YOU SMUG GLOATING PRICKS. GO PROTEST ONLINE SOMEWHERE AGAINST YOUR MOST SUCCESSFUL MODERN MANAGER, YOU UNGRACIOUS, UNGRATEFUL CUNTS!!

What a team we have

We've been on the verge of giving someone a proper hiding all season.

I watch other teams like Chelsea and Leicester last season score with every single fucking shot they have........and then see us with 10-15 shots on target and keepers just about keeping the score line down to 2-3 goals........these last two games were always going to happen eventually, we've been dominating so many games.

To all those who think we bottled it or fucked it up (biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard), to all those who say always the bride, to those who say that our great season means nothing because we didn't win anything, I will say this...

If you can't enjoy such a remarkable season then you might as well give up. And let's face it, a lot of you (<ahem> West Ham and Leicester...and no doubt other clubs) will never in the future have it as sweet as we do right now.

Good thing is next season every 'big' team has European football.

Yeah, but West Ham beat us 1-0...

I would say out of my ten favourite moments supporting Spurs that at least 4 or 5 would be from this season. The last game at the Lane, the 2-0 over Woolwich to finish above them and that West Ham win were all awesome just to name a few. Plus you have beating Chelsea at the Lane, simply watching our football over the last few months and the wins against Swansea and Palace were pretty great (in case you haven't realised I love a late winner).
