Youre not wrong.

At least we know if we make it, we've earnt it.

We've a lot of work to do; but if we win tomorrow and Man U nick a point from the scum, Man C may have already won the league by the time we play them which could play into our hands.

The GD comes into it.
If we win 1 and lose 5 by 1 goal every game our GD goes to 12.
If they win all 5 games by 1 goal their GD goes to 9.
You're right of course, it can come into it, mathematically speaking.

I should have worded it differently: If Chavs catch us on points, it's unlikely that our current GD will be enough to save us. (Anyway they ain't catching us so it doesn't matter).

4 more points and 6th is safe (Man U and Newcastle can't both get to 64 since they play each other).

7 more points and 5th is safe.

18 more points and 4th is safe.

We are 7 points behind, with a horrible fixture list and inconsistent form.

Alongside a crumbling, disharmonious Liverpool, a massively erratic and inconsistent Chelsea, a Villa who again today proved they aren't beyond dropping further points (and still have cup distractions), an already relegated Sheff U and a Man C that potentially could have already won the league by the time we face them.

Beating the Arse tomorrow is a gateway to all that potentially coming into play.

No-one said it'll be easy, but fuck all the fatalism.
