Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

According to the Standard the clubs are negotiating now. We want around 17 mil but Brugges want to pay more around 8.

11 mil on deadline day it is.

Tottenham have told Club Brugge they will have to pay £17million if they want to sign Victor Wanyama.

Spurs are prepared to sell midfielder Wanyama, who has started just 47 Premier League games for them since joining from Southampton for £11.5m in 2016.

Club Brugge have opened talks with Spurs over signing Wanyama on a permanent basis but are not prepared to pay the asking price.

Standard Sport understands they are willing to spend £8m for Wanyama at the moment, although the two clubs are still in negotiations.

There is still the possibility of taking Wanyama on a season-long loan, although his £65,000-a-week salary is set to be another stumbling block for the Belgian club.

Should it be a temporary switch, Brugge will ask Spurs to pay some of his wages. If the two clubs manage to agree a permanent option, Wanyama is likely to have to take a pay cut.

Any deal for the player could all depend on whether Club Brugge secure the financial boost of reaching the group stages of the Champions League.

Contractually we need to pay off Wanyamas remaining salary if he has not requested a move - at £65k PW that's over £3m pa and with , I think 3 years left on his contract, that's £10m Spurs need to pay out ifrom that rumoured £17m bid

So if Wanyama wants the deal to go through he can take a lower payoff to reduce the fee Spurs need , and no doubt DL will also take a lower amount too.

Probably need Bruges to increase their bid to closer to £12m from £8m for the deal to get done, even assuming Wanyama takes a real haircut on his wages payout of the contract.

Personally think Poch only wants N'Koudou and one of Aurier or Wanyama gone this TW to ensure squad isn't too small in the months until January when we could get another player or two in.

Think that might be behind Pochs remarks of the TW close being too early.
