Very valuable?

He's very professional and smart enough to help us off the bench.

Also think we have lost every game he started for us? if not dropped points.

He also wants to start somewhere and we should allow him that imo.

This season PEH has started 5 games.

Out of them we have 0:2 win and clean sheet over Fulham; 4 are defeats

In West Ham game he was taken off at 67th minute (1:1); game ended in 1:2.
In ManCity game he came on at half-time, us being 1:2 behind. Game finished with 3:3.
In Luton game he came on at HT when it was 0:0. Game finished 1:0 to us.

So truth is somewhere in the middle. He has been part of the squad. But "very valuable" is bit of an overstatement, agreed with that.

It's a mental world we live in.
GLC is a word cup winner. Who, much to my surprise, has played pretty well since we lost Madders.

What else has cost £30m in the last few years?
Fulham paid £22m for Iwobi :roflmao:
Let's not even start on what United have spent on utter shite.

GLC is NOT A WC WINNER.

You know why? CAUSE HE WAS INJURED.

Truly mental world, isn't it.

Just saw an article in the Standard that Brentford need a left back so one could be them. Id be tempted to see if they fancy Sessegnon too.
They probably only need temporary solution till Henry will be back (he hurt his ACL if i’m correct). So i would expect simple loan with No option/obligation

PEH's strength in our squad is coming on at 60-70th minutes to steady us and see out a game. He did very well at that when we had a full strength squad. Useful for sure, but he wants to start to get minutes in before euros.

Bingo - PEH is a good/decent squad player for us but I think he has an overinflated sense of his own abilities. He reportedly turned down Fulham in the summer - presumably because he thought Fulham was beneath him. Otherwise he’s only being linked teams like Juventis or Athletico Madrid - Bayern’s name has come up (probably cause he won’t go to a smaller club).

Makes it hard to move him on but he’s reportedly not thrilled being here cause he thinks he should be starting. 🤷 So not sure what’s going to happen here.

Good squad player, but him/skipp are probably the most easily upgradable position for our squad after Dier(CB).

CM: Madders, bentancur, sarr, bissouma, GLC, Hojbjerg, skipp (and kulu kinda)

If we can move on Hojbjerg and skipp, we could bring in another CM to upgrade our squad pretty nicely. Vermeeren, Redondo, even gallagher.

20+10 = 30

Not easy to replace what GLC does for 30m.

He has 2 years left this summer, PEH has 1. GLC may even be worth extending, His quotes in the game mag were that Ange told him from the start that he wants him here. PEH isn't interested in extending or we aren't offering. We have clearly been willing to deal since Ange arrived.

It's not complicated to work out what is likely and what is also the best for our manager's long-term view on the squad.

Ah, so I see we are resorting to lies and fantasies with GLC.

First of all he was WC winner (nope, injury kept him out - least surprising thing ever).
Now he has 2 years left on his contract (nope, 1 year like PEH).

You can disagree allllll you like if it makes you feel smarter.

But solid, cold fact is that - this EPL season we have played 1800 minutes. And GLC has been picked for 411 of them. That is 22% of all minutes.

No one in the world would pay 30 mil for such track record.

Yep, exactly that.
Good squad player that is available. But also very much upgradable.

You don't understand supply and demand at all, do you?

Issue why winter transfer windows are difficult is that TEAMS DON'T LET THEIR PLAYERS LEAVE.
So supply is extremely limited. Demand too is lower in winter, but drop in supply is much greater.

Also, effectively this means that 1/3 of "assets useful lifespan" is over by then. This also should roughly translate him losing 1/3 of his potential value. If we set his value to 21 million now, it would mean - selling now 21 mil. Selling in summer 14 mil. Selling next Jan 7 mil and next summer - leaving free. So estimate of now going for ~20-25 mil and in summer for maybe 15 mil seem quite accurate.

P.S also in EUR not in GBP. No one would pay 25 mil GBP for him.

The depreciation of players' value throughout their contract is nowhere near as universally straightline as you suggest, Harry Kane being a case in point.

Never said he won the WC. was wrong about the contract.

right about everything else.

PEH most likely leaves in Janary. GLC most likely stays.

We would and should take less than 30m for PEH. We wouldn't and shouldn't take less than 30m for GLC.

Been a solid pro and useful option off the bench.
